Dakota Fanning Is The Millennial Version Of Grace Kelly

Grace Kelly is one of the great beloved actresses from Hollywood's Golden Age, and although she's no longer with us, her legacy certainly seems to be far from lost. With both an iconic life and a timeless acting career left behind, we can't help but make comparisons to celebrities today that remind us of Kelly. No one can say for sure that Dakota Fanning is Grace Kelly's proven reincarnation, but it does go without saying that there is a physical resemblance, and both women made big moves in Hollywood early-on in their careers.

Considered one of Hollywood's greats, Grace Kelly had an incredibly short career for a film star, working for only six years. However, during those fleeting six years, Kelly's repertoire was rather prolific. Born in Philadelphia to an Irish-American father—John B. Kelly Sr.—and a mother with German parents,—Margaret Majer—Kelly began performing in theatrical productions in New York City at the age of 20.

It wasn't long before she headed to Hollywood to star in film and television and quickly became a leading lady during the Golden Age of Hollywood. Appearing in a number of television shows and over a dozen movies, Grace Kelly was truly a girl of the Golden Age, as she participated in both the Golden Age of Television and the reciprocate era in film. The star won both an Academy Award and a Golden Globe as Best Actress for the 1954 film Country Girl.

Other notable films during her time as an actress include Mogambo, starring opposite Clark Gable and Ava Gardner, which earned her a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress, and she even one the 1950 Theatre World Award for the theater project The Father. Other iconic roles featuring Kelly include High Society opposite Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby, as well as three Alfred Hitchcock films—Dial M For Murder, Rear Window, and To Catch a Thief with Cary Grant.

Grace Kelly was not only a beloved actress, but the film star became a member of royalty when she married Prince Rainier III of Monaco at the age of 26.

But when Kelly found love with Monaco royalty, she had to quit Hollywood as she couldn't continue her acting career. Instead, she committed to a new life as she married Prince Rainier III and became the Princess of Monaco. Together they had three children—Caroline, Princess of Hanover, Albert II, Prince of Monaco, and Princess Stéphanie.

Unfortunately, Kelly's life was cut short, when at the age of 52 she had a stroke while driving her car, lost control of the vehicle, and wound up in a car accident, along with her daughter Caroline, who was 17 at the time. Grace died but Caroline survived. Despite the highly tragic accident, Kelly has been remembered as one of the best actresses of Hollywood's big boom, and now there's another actress in Hollywood who just seems to harken Kelly's iconic looks and talent: Dakota Fanning

If Grace Kelly was known for having a booming career at a young age, Fanning certainly made her mark before most of us were even in middle school. Grace Kelly seemed to shine in the spotlight in her twenties, but Fanning got her first shot at fame at the young age of seven. Like Kelly, she started out in the theater, starring in small plays in the city of Woodstock, Georgia, until she really went professional at the age of five with a role in NBC's famous ER drama. With a similar start to Kelly in terms of Hollywood career, it makes sense that Fanning's look and presence in Hollywood seem to resemble that same soft vintage presence Kelly had.

This photo of Dakota Fanning at the screening for the film Once Upon A Time In Hollywood is just one of the moments in which she really embodied Grace Kelly's vintage aura. The occasion itself also harkens back to the Golden Age of Hollywood, as the film featured many allusions to exactly that iconic era. Fanning's maybe not yet won a Golden Globe or Academy Award like Kelly, but she certainly has won many others and her extensive film discography from The Cat in the Hat to Ocean's 8 makes her a good candidate to extend the legacy of female starlets in Hollywood, just like Grace Kelly.

Doesn't Dakota Fanning remind you of both the beauty and talent of Grace Kelly? Maybe Fanning will also go on to win some of the same acting awards Grace Kelly has! Let us know what you think of this Hollywood pair, and be sure to pass it on to your friends and family!
