Dads May Soon Have The Ability To Breastfeed Their Newborn Babies Naturally

A device created by Marie-Claire Springham, a product design student in London, aims to allow men to breastfeed. The device, which is still in development, was created in an attempt to help mothers who have difficulty producing their own breastmilk.

It’s called a “chestfeeding” kit and it’s designed to allow men to develop “milk ducts”. And while many people are unaware of this, the kit is not actually giving men something they didn't have before.

As it turns out, men can lactate on their own. This occurrence isn’t a common and not much milk is produced when it does happen, but like women, men have mammary glands. The difference is that women naturally have hormones that cause the glands to develop with maturity.

With that said, the idea of the kit is to boost the feminine hormones in males that lead to milk production. These include progesterone, which stimulates the glands, and prolactin, which stimulates milk production.

In addition to these, men who want to breastfeed will also need domperidone. It’s commonly given to women who struggle to produce milk by increasing prolactin. Marie-Claire also added oxytocin, which allows milk to flow easier.

The process is as simple as injecting the solution while the mother is pregnant so that the father will be ready to give milk when the little tyke shows up. It’s actually pretty simple.

The only downside, for some men, is that they may temporarily grow breasts - which, of course, are necessary for the process, but should go away after the process is complete.

This product is still being tested. Naturally, there could be some safety issues with a product like this, so stay tuned for updates. Either way, this seems to be something more people ought to see, given that this could be the future of many families in the coming years.
