Kindness is an important part of life. Even a small act of kindness can go a long way when it comes to others. A simple smile or compliment can even turn someone’s day completely around.
Speaking to LoveWhatMatters, Julie Bick said she loves her parents and had a great relationship with them as she grew up. Unfortunately, when Julie was an adult, her mother unexpectedly died.
Julie realized that the stresses of life had kept her from spending time with her mother when she was alive. After all, Julie was a single mother of two young children, and life often gets in the way. She decided that she was not going to make that same mistake with her father.

However, Julie’s father was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s just a year after her mother passed away. She was overwhelmed with the thought of caring for her father, but Julie remembered her old promise to spend time with him while he was still alive.
While she was completely unprepared for what was to come, she knew that she would always be there for her dad. She wasn’t about to let life get in the way this time.
Julie and her two children, Carlee and Brantlee, decided to move in with her father in order to provide him with the best life possible. She also became his caretaker.
One of the duties that Julie took on was to keep her father on a schedule, as this can be helpful for those with Alzheimer’s.
Her father especially always looked forward to seeing Harold, the neighbourhood Garbage man, on Monday mornings. Harold was a wonderful man who was friendly with everyone. Julie made sure that he was always ready to meet Harold when he showed up to collect their garbage.
One day, Julie’s father asked her if she would take a chair out to the street so that he could visit with Harold when the truck pulled up. Julie had been emotional that morning after a rough night but agreed to pull out a chair for him.
What happened next was stunning! Her father told her that Harold was religious and that he wanted to pray for her with Harold. He knew that she was having a hard time and was still looking out for her, despite his disease.
"I gave him his space and walked back to the porch with my eyes loading up with tears." she told LoveWhatMatters.
