Dad Teaches Nervous Golden Retriever Puppy To Go Down Stairs

In a video posted on January 14th, 2015, Hobbes, the cute golden retriever puppy, was very nervous when it came to going down the stairs. It wasn't until his owner dad who posted the video taught him how to do it that he tried to overcome his fear of them. At first, Hobbes refused to go down the staircases.

The video demonstrates his father teaching Hobbes slowly and patiently. An excellent instructor is critical! Little Hobbes is so cute, and he tries to learn. His puppy mind keeps on getting on his way, and he cannot stop wagging his tail every time he is spoken to in a sweet tone.

By smelling the edge, he gains courage. A puppy always smells something first. Charming little Hobbes pokes his nose on edge and then returns, confirming that he won’t cross that edge of the cliff. His father watches him and knows that a little creative learning is necessary. After Hobbes’ barks once or twice, a new plan is drawn up.

When Hobbes’ father tries to push him to the edge several times, he refuses and barks. This appears to be the last straw for Dad when he thinks of another plan. The father’s new plan is to lead by example and walk as Hobbes would. He climbs the stairs on all fours and turns around. The outcome is a fun video of a person and a dog climbing the stairs. Sometimes it takes some practice, but for puppies, regularity is vital.

After every step, the little puppy gets encouragement. The famous “good boy.” This makes good behavior to be permanent. After several “good boy’s,” Hobbes get used to climbing the stairs. He staggers, falls, and crawls up the staircases in no time.

Among the things that pups need to study is to go down and up the staircases. Stairs are little hindrance paths for puppies and babies. Like small walls, you need some pace to get them up and down the stairs properly. If you have a small buddy (like a baby or a puppy), you need no rhythm, just a little struggle until they learn.

For a pup, walking down the steps is the same as going down a cliff repeatedly. Every step is one foot or two; however, it is a cliff for a small puppy! Each time they have to go down a step, they must do their best and hope that something is at the foot. For the small ones, this may be a pretty scary experience.

Finally, it only takes some practice and encouragement for the puppy to learn to walk down the stairs. Patience is also very essential. Also, the dad, who is the teacher, leads by example, which motivates the puppy.

If your puppy afraid of walking down the stairs, leave a comment! Be sure to pass this on to other animal-lovers and pet owners!
