Phoenix Thompson is suffering from a type of blood cancer called myeloid leukemia. She's only two-years-old and has to go through extensive treatments already just to try to keep her healthy. One of the options for cancer is chemotherapy, which is a system that uses chemicals and medications. The idea of the chemotherapy is to heal the sufferer by destroying the cancerous cells. It can be a difficult form of treatment, however, because it can cause pain in the patient. As it destroys cancerous cells, it may destroy some healthy cells at the same time. It can cause undesirable symptoms such as nausea, muscle pains, hair loss, and vomiting. Adults have a difficult time with chemotherapy.

Here we're talking about a two-year-old girl who just recently started living her life. She has to go through these aggressive treatments to try to recover. This puts a strain on her and her parents both emotionally and physically. They all have to work hard to remain uplifted during the process.

Phoenix was very brave for her first chemotherapy session though. She's receiving care from the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta in the Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorder Center. Her parents are praying for her every day that she will have a full recovery. They have a strong sense of faith in the Lord. The doctors and medical staff that are working with her are highly skilled and have lots of experience. They're also treating her well there and giving her the support that she needs when her parents are not with her.

Phoenix just went through her first round of chemotherapy, and everything went well. Her parents thought that she deserved something special for being strong through the entire process. Her father thought of an excellent idea to celebrate her survival through the grueling process of chemotherapy. He showed up at the hospital that she was at in a suit and tie, and he brought her a little baby dress to wear.

What he did next was absolutely heartwarming, and you have to watch it for yourself to appreciate it. The condensed version is that he shared a father and daughter dance with his baby girl. She appeared to be in good spirits and full of life and energy at the time. Make sure you let the people that you know read about this event.
