Dad Makes Over His Daughters’ Bedroom Into An Indoor Tree House

As kids, we're always playing make-believe. Whether pretending we have imaginary friends, pretending to be princes and princesses or pretending that we're in the jungle when we're simply in our backyards, children have imaginations that know no limits. That's why kids dream of having so many things, as it all adds to their enriching playtime. One thing that many kids dream of is having a treehouse. After all, what child doesn't want their own mini house in nature to call their own?

For one lucky pair of girls, their dream of a treehouse came true — only it wasn't outside in the yard, but rather their bedroom became one! And it's all thanks to their very creative father, Adam Hadlock. The father of two girls is a web developer by day but a dream-maker by night. So when his two daughters had a wish, he made it come true.

Hadlock built them an incredible treehouse bunk bed that has space for sleeping, reading, playing and even has storage space leftover! He built it for them as a Christmas present over a two- to three-day period and uploaded a timelapse video of himself making it to his YouTube channel in 2011.

Well, it seems that Hadlock's kids weren't the only ones who were impressed — the internet was equally as obsessed with the cool treehouse and his video has been viewed millions of times since! But it's not the only project Hadlock has made — he's dedicated to building all sorts of wonderful things and he documents them on his blog. Let's take a look.

Fathers do a lot for their children, but dads who are especially good at building things usually end up constructing all sorts of contraptions in order to make their kids happy. That was certainly the case for one father of two girls named Adam Hadlock. Self-described as a "web developer by day and a dreamer builder maker by night," Hadlock put his creativity and handyman skills to use when he decided to construct a "treehouse" for his two daughters one Christmas back in 2010.

But instead of an ordinary treehouse built in the yard atop a regular tree, Hadlock had the idea to turn his daughters' bedroom into a magical treehouse, complete with nooks and crannies for exploring – as well as somewhere to sleep of course.

In the end, what he came up with far exceeded what anyone could have imagined. Over the course of two to three days, Hadlock built treehouse-inspired bunk beds that feature two large "tree trunks" in front that have branches and holes to climb up. Two single mattresses are housed behind the two trunks, while a space above the beds features a mesh net that acts as a canopy. Underneath the beds is a space for storage, which doubles as a place where the girls can explore and play hide and seek. Lastly, hidden within the bunk beds is a set of drawers for their belongings. The end result is an incredibly imaginative and fun room that brings a whole new meaning to the idea of what a treehouse can be.

Incredibly, Hadlock designed and built everything himself — and in just a few days at that! Luckily for everyone interested at home, he documented the process in a timelapse video that he uploaded to his YouTube account in Jan. 2011. The video became so popular on the internet that it now has over 16 million views!

In the video, Hadlock showcases all of the steps he took in building the treehouse — from cleaning the girls' room in the beginning to cutting and constructing the tree trunks and finally building everything up inside. He even included his daughters' reactions in the video and needless to say, they were absolutely thrilled. One even says that it's the "best bed ever" and that they should "show this to the president!" Their happiness is adorable and proves that Hadlock may just be the best dad in the world.

Taking his project one step further, Hadlock even began a Kickstarter campaign to raise money so that he could manufacture kits for other parents to build the same bed for their own children. Now that's really thinking about others! Unfortunately, the campaign didn't raise enough money for that to happen, but it's not for lack of trying.

We're sure it's not the last of Hadlock and his genius ideas. In fact, he's even got a different YouTube channel where he documents other construction projects he's working on. Some of these include major house renovations and car repairs. Hadlock is a handyman who clearly has that special touch and his passion is sharing it with the world.

What do you think about the incredible treehouse bunk beds that Adam Hadlock built for his daughters? Have you ever built anything so large before? If this inspired you, then pass it on so others can also get ideas!
