D.J. Tanner From 'Full House' Looks Gorgeous Now At 48

The sitcom "Full House" was a huge success in the late '80s and early '90s and it propelled many of its stars to fame. Among them was John Stamos as the hunky Uncle Jesse, who was a surefire drawcard for women everywhere. Other notable actors included Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen, young girls at the time, who played the singular role of Michelle Tanner, while Stamos' close friend Bob Saget also became very well known. 

The show would run for eight years, airing from 1987 to 1995, but to the delight of fans, it wouldn't be the last the world would see of "Full House," when two decades later in 2015, Netflix announced that they would be reviving the show. The reboot adapted the name slightly to "Fuller House" and was released in 2016.

Despite the fact that the Olsen twins wouldn't be reprising their role as Michelle Tanner, the rest of the cast were all returning as regular characters or as guest roles. "Fuller House" would go on to have five seasons to mixed reviews, but fans of the original were no doubt happy to have the gang back together again.

Another one of the stars from the show who shot to fame during the series' original run is actress Candace Cameron Bure, better known to fans as D.J. Tanner. Candace has appeared in various other roles over the years including movies on the Hallmark Channel, an appearance on "Dancing With the Stars" and even a hosting role on "The View."

Now aged 48, Candace is all grown-up compared to her D.J. Tanner days and she looks incredible. 

Born on April 6, 1976, in Panorama City, California, Candace would be no stranger to show business in her youth, as her older brother Kirk Cameron shot to fame in 1985 on the series "Growing Pains." Well, it wouldn't take long for Candace to catch up to her brother's fame, as she landed commercials by the age of 5 and in 1987 got the role of D.J. Tanner on "Full House."

Despite being a child star, Candace later described her experience working on the show as nothing short of amazing, telling Good Housekeeping last year:

"There wasn't a big focus on image and beauty from producers, so I didn't pay that much attention to it [on set]. It was the same with my family and my agents. I never had people around me telling me that I had to look a certain way or be a certain weight, and I think that's half of the battle."

Revealing that her onscreen dad Bob Saget was a mentor to her in real life, Candace loved being a part of the series and said in the same interview that if she's "forever known as D.J. tanner and everyone's big sister, [she] will be thrilled and happy," saying she embraces the show as much now as an adult as she did at 10 years old.

Following her turn on "Full House," Candace guest-starred on a number of other popular TV shows of the era including "Cybill," "Boy Meets World" and later on, "That's So Raven." But in the early 2000s, Candace took a break from acting to focus on starting a family. In fact, it was Candace's role on "Full House" that led to her meeting her future husband, Russian former NHL player Valeri Bure.

The couple met when she was 18 and attended a hockey game with her "Full House" co-stars. She instantly took a liking to one of the players and after being introduced to Valeri, the duo hit it off and had their first date the next day. Within a year they were engaged and the rest as they say is history. 

Candace even made the move to Canada to be with her husband, and the couple welcomed three children together — a daughter named Natasha, and two sons named Lev and Maksim. It was after she'd had her children in the early 2000s that she decided to take a break from television in order to focus on family.

But soon enough, Candace heard the call of Hollywood once again and she made her return on the series "Make It or Break It" in 2009. Then in 2015 "Full House" fans had their dreams come true when Candace returned for "Fuller House" playing a now grown-up D.J. Tanner. She told Moms.com that when the original series ended she was "ready to move on and go into adulthood." But after becoming a mom and grown-up woman, she was even more grateful for her experience on the show and was thrilled to return, telling the Washington Post:

“It was such a gift in my life to be able to reprise the show and do a whole new show based on the same characters."

What's more, Candace's daughter Natasha is also an actress and she even appeared in two episodes of "Fuller House"! Candace told Moms.com:

“That was also a highlight — to work on the show that’s meant the most in my life and have my daughter be a part of it as a working actor. That was incredible.”
