It was quite a night recently in Washington, D.C. at the 41st Kennedy Center Honors. This annual event honors the contributions of some of the most beloved icons on the arts scene. This year's honorees included country music singer Reba McEntire, composer Phillip Glass, jazz artist Wayne Shorter, and the people responsible for the Broadway hit musical, "Hamilton."

But one of the highlights of the evening came when iconic artist Cher was honored by her friend Cyndi Lauper. As one of the most unique pop artists of the 1980s, Lauper had developed a close friendship with Cher over the years. So it was only fitting that Lauper was one of the few people selected to perform during the tribute to Cher.

The surprise of the night was that Cher did not know that Lauper would be there. She had been told that Lauper had a prior engagement in Los Angeles. So it was quite the shock for Cher when Lauper strutted out on to the stage to sing a rousing rendition of the hit song, "If I Could Turn Back Time."

Although Lauper is known for her extraordinary clothing choices and style elements, she toned it down for the evening at the Kennedy Center. The only eclectic item in Lauper's wardrobe for the performance was the bold platinum blonde wig.

After Lauper admitted lying to Cher about her location for the evening, she blew her friend a kiss and launched into the performance. Everyone from Cher and the rest of the audience was delighted by Lauper's show. Both of these pop stars are just as stunning as ever. From their gorgeous looks to their iconic sense of style to their beautiful vocals, they still continually prove that they two of the best artists of their time.
