If you haven’t seen the heartwarming video with two toddlers hugging toddlers making rounds on the internet at least five times over the last week, you must have been under a rock!

The cutest besties in the world restored people’s faith in love when the two toddlers, Maxwell Hanson and Finnegan McKenna, ran down the sidewalk with open arms to greet each other. Last week, Ellen Degeneres invited the best friends and their adoring parents to join her on her daytime television to chat about their adorable friendship.

How Did They Meet?

They don’t go to the same school, and they aren't neighbors. But Maxwell and Finnegan were destined to meet! One day, Finnegan’s parents were eating with Finnegan at their favorite local restaurant. They were sitting in a big communal table, and then Maxwell’s family asked to sit at the end of their table. The two boys immediately bonded. It’s been a year since their first encounter, and the besties can’t get enough of each other.

Love Is All We Need

Their parents describe the boys as good friends who are very affectionate with each other. They love to hug and can’t wait to spend time together. They usually greet each other with a big hug, but their parents don’t always have the chance to catch it on video. This time, they were in luck! DeGeneres mentioned that she thinks that their video resonated with so many people because the world needs to be reminded about how to treat each other with love.

Sharing Is Caring

Even on TV in front of a large studio audience, the boys weren’t too shy to show affection for each other. Finnegan showed up on set with two toys: a plane and a car. However, Maxwell came empty-handed. That was no biggie because Finnegan immediately gave his toy car to Maxwell, which led to “awww” from the audience.

They also loved seeing blown-up pictures of the two of them on the big screen. Outgoing Finnegan ran to the screen and pointed at the two, while more reserved Maxwell sat on the couch and smiled at the picture from afar.

Their Friendship Continues to Grow

Even though the besties do not go to the same school, they recently spent three days together back-to-back. Maxwell’s dad mentioned how they even have their own secret language like dolphins. Things have recently gotten even better for the two-year olds as now they get to ride the bus together every morning on their way to school.

Cars for the Kids!

DeGeneres surprised the boys with two life-size kid cars for them to drive around on the New York City sidewalks. The cars were so cute. The seats even had the cutest picture of the boys hanging out together. And, that’s not all! Because this is Shutterfly’s eighth year partnering with the Ellen DeGeneres show, they gave each family $10,000 to start a college fund for the adorable toddlers.
