Colonel, a 29-year-old Asian elephant cools off with an underwater nap, using his trunk as a snorkel at the Fort Worth Zoo in Texas.

The temperatures in Fort Worth, Texas, get a little too high, and even the big five members seem to find the heat too much. Lucky for the zoo residents, there is an attractive pool that fits even the most significant animal you would expect to find.

If you are a zoo lover and maybe a frequent visitor, you probably are aware of the seven Asian elephants residing in Fort Worth. According to SWNS, Colonel is a 29-year-old Asian elephant, one of the seven of its kind that calls Fort Worth Zoo home.

With the current temperatures, Colonel pulled a fantastic stunt in response to the temperatures. His move has since been the talk of the internet.

In a video that has since gone viral, the five-tonne heavy elephant can be seen beating out the heat in a zoo pool. Breathing would probably have been the only obstacle to a refreshing nap, but as a scuba diver, his trunk served as a perfect snorkel.

Getting up for air every other minute would surely have been a lot of work for the massive creature. So, one minute, Colonel is enjoying what the amazing pool has for him with his body submerged, and the next, you see his trunk pop up for some oxygen.

The pool is wide and deep enough. Only Colonel’s backside is showing a little as he lets the body cool. Viewers enjoy seeing him stand up at some point and get a full view, but it’s the snorkel that makes the video too cute.

The elephant appears to be enjoying the time in the pool, and its undeniable he is quite crafty. The video shows Colonel rolling around the water to ease the heat, creating a lovely splash.

Forth Worth Zoo elephant expert, Christine Del Turco says that Colonel was initially not an avid swimmer, and getting him into the pool or the first time was quite a piece of work.

He had to get coerced, and this took about four to five days, after which he would splash the water from the pool’s edge. He was quite conscious about the pool’s depth and had to trend in carefully.

Del Turco, who is used to handling elephants, coaxed Colonel using threats, and he finally could get into the pool. Today, Colonel will run to cool off under the pool whenever he sees her. While Colonel’s swimming at the pool and his move to use the trunk as a snorkel amazed many, the elephant has more lovable traits.

Del Turco, who cares for all the seven Asian elephants, admits that the five-ton elephant is a good boy. He is among her favorites even though she tries to spread love among all, and as she revealed, Colonel is well-mannered. Colonel is Del Turco's and the crew’s trimmest and most wonderful elephant to work with. He loves exercising and running around, and seeing him finally lie down is a lovely experience.

As an elephant expert, Del Turco revealed that Asian elephants love water, but Colonel’s character is pretty unique. The pool is currently under renovations as published by play.stuff.com, and it will have the capacity to hold more than half a million gallons on completion.

The elephant will probably continue with his daily naps as the pool will have shallow banks as the zoo’s spokesperson, Avery Elander, revealed. Colonel’s zoo water splash experience was quite fascinating, as captured in the video. However, wildlife lovers can have a better glance at Colonel’s crafts at Fort Worth Zoo. Besides, it’s a thing he does every day so you can save a date.

Everyone is fond of this adorable elephant and perhaps you are, too! Be sure to pass this on to others, too!
