Amanda Cartagine is a popular business owner who is very valuable to her community. She is also the mother to a special needs child. When she learned that one of her special needs employees was being harassed by a customer, she quickly stepped in to take care of the situation.

The customer isn’t always right, as we will soon find out. Amanda was disgusted to find out what happened inside her business. She couldn’t believe that someone could actually act the way that they did towards her staff. She wasn’t about to allow some stranger to make her valued employees feel bad about who they really are. She was ready to take action.

Amanda is the mother to a beautiful child with Down syndrome.

She knows that a person with special needs will require just a little bit of extra time and help to learn a task. But once they do learn it, watch out world! Amanda told WYFF News that it is because of her son that she has been inspired to hire disabled men and women for her restaurant.

She states that special needs children are always faced with stigmas and barriers. But if you take the time to help them learn and grow at their own pace, they can be unstoppable.

Amanda is as dedicated to her staff as she is to her family. When she heard that a customer purposely harassed a worker of hers, she was enraged. According to Amanda, the customer in question asked the employee to fill up his salad bowl, a task the boy had not been trained to do.

The reason for this is that every staff member of the Pizza Inn is given a specific job to do. The customer then refused to listen to Amanda when she tried to explain the way she runs her business. He proceeded to attack her, the employee, and other members of her work family.

The manager spoke to the customer privately in an attempt to curb the confrontation. The manager explained that the employee was not trained in that area and that he has special circumstances.

However, the man kept raging. As he stormed out of the establishment, he screamed that the business should hang up a “warning” sign that would tell everyone who came in that the restaurant employs disabled people. So, Amanda took that advice to heart.

The sign states that they are a proud equal opportunity employer and that they hire all of God’s children. Amanda wanted her employees to know that they are appreciated and loved. She went out of her way to protect their emotional and mental health.

She told WYFF News that putting up the sign felt like the right thing to do. Anyone who comes to Pizza Inn to eat will know that there are incredible staff members ready to wait on them. Don’t be afraid to stop into the shop if you are in Greenville, South Carolina.

Amanda deserves all of the thanks she gets.
