Curious Deer Comes Out Of The Woods To Listen To Gorgeous Live Harp Rendition Of 'The Sound Of Silence'

Many people equate harp music with angels and other beautiful sights. When harp playing occurs in natural settings, such appreciation intensifies, and it can leave one rattled when the scene is less than perfect. The following professional harpist exemplifies this phenomenon as she copes with an unexpected situation.

Canadian harpist Naomi SV recently had an unexpected event as she shot a cover of The Sound of Silence. As the harpist played the Simon and Garfunkel classic, a deer cautiously approached her. When the two see one another, they are both startled.

Summer Sun

The sun shone high in the sky. It was the kind of lazy summer day you spend in a hammock or floating on a pool raft. For Naomi SV, it was the perfect day to bring her harp into the great outdoors for a little musical interlude.

Music in a Meadow

On this day, Naomi SV brought her harp to a grassy meadow. The lush vegetation and gentle breeze matched the peacefulness of the much-anticipated harp music. To further blend into this natural setting, the harpist wore a subtle slate grey dress and played on a simple black harp.

A Good Day for a Classic

Matching the meadow's general mood was easy to do with a similarly gentle song. For this al fresco performance, she chooses The Sound of Silence. The song's sometimes bleak lyrics create a stark contrast with the musician's idyllic landscape.

A Scene from a Fairy Tale

As the harp's soft murmur gradually fades into the scene, the summer beauty rises to the occasion. Trees stand at attention with their floral contemporaries sitting tall on the ground. Sun dappled grasses seem to glow in the light.

A Friend Comes Closer

Naomi SV caresses the strings of her harp while a deer stands in the background wagging its tail. When she reaches the second verse, the deer cautiously moves closer to her. Ironically, the lyrics for this verse begin, "In restless dreams, I walked alone."

The Spell is Broken

During the first few lines of the second verse, the deer stands listening, as if in a trance. When Naomi SV gets to the line, "When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of neon light," she suddenly stops playing right before the word 'light" when she's startled by the fleeing deer. The magical spell has been broken as quickly as it was invoked.
