Crow Brings Gifts To Kid Who Has Been Giving Them Food For Four Years

You might expect a loyal pet dog to fetch you something. You might even be able to train it to go get your slippers. Gabi Mann from Seattle has crows that bring her gifts since she has been feeding them for the last four years.

It is not by chance that Gabi is receiving the gifts. For four years, 8-year-old Gabi has been feeding crows in the yard of her Seattle home. It has become such a routine that they wait around the yard when it is time for lunch.

Their special relationship started by accident though –  her clumsiness when it comes to food was how it all started. Little 4-year-old Gabi would drop food everywhere she went. The crows would watch her closely, hoping for a cheeky bite. Eventually, Gabi started sharing her lunch with them. Soon thereafter, her brother joined in and crows started lining up as the two children were waiting for the bus.

Gabi's mother, Lisa, didn't mind that her children shared their food.

"I like that they love the animals and are willing to share," she told the BBC. "It was a kind of transformation. I never thought about birds."

Eventually, Gabi started feeding the birds proper meals, as opposed to just dropping them scraps. Gabi and her mom started spreading bird feed across their yard and filled their backyard birdbath with fresh water each morning. The two call out to the birds, as they lined up into telephone lines.

After time, the crows started leaving small, shiny objects behind in the bird feeders. They were gifts for little Gabi. They would bring her toys, beads, and even a heart-shaped pearl. The crows were nice enough to find a camera lens Lisa had misplaced.

Perhaps the sweetest gift was a piece of jewelry with the word 'best' on it. "I don't know if they still have the part that says 'friend'," Gabi said jokingly.

It is a two-way relationship where everybody gets what they want. It is not just by chance that this is happening. The birds know full well that they are forging a bond with Gabi.

Gabi has kept every single gift the crows have brought her over the years. She has a designated bread container, which is filled with rows of plastic bags with each object the birds have gifted her. The items are individually wrapped and organized in categories.
