Kidnapping is every parent's worst nightmare. With human trafficking on the rise, it's more of a problem than ever. Thanks to a close call with their son Duncan, Tenisha and Jerry Jensen of Centerville, Utah, experienced firsthand how real a concern this is.

Duncan was doing what countless children do every day -- walking home from a friend's house. The young boy noticed a car idling on a corner near a park. As Duncan walked along, the driver of the car began talking to him.

He first asked Duncan if he wanted some candy. When Duncan said no, the man got out of the car.

Worried, Duncan tried to keep walking, but the man came right up to the boy and grabbed him. Gripping Dylan's shirt, the kidnapper began to drag him toward the waiting vehicle.

The situation had gone from scary to dangerous, but it could have gotten even worse if Duncan hadn't recalled a lesson his parents taught him. Jerry and Tenisha had told him that if he ever felt in danger, he should fight back in whatever way he could to escape.

Remembering that advice, Duncan grasped his house keys between his knuckles. When he got the chance, he hit the man as hard as he could. The combination of keys and fist made the man let go of Duncan, and the boy ran to the park. He hid there until he felt safe enough to return home.

Duncan's parents urge others to speak to their children about the very real dangers of abduction. If this 12-year-old hadn't thought fast and remembered his parents' advice, anything could have happened to him.

Do you think parents should talk about things like kidnapping with young children? Or do you believe the topic is too scary or difficult to bring up? Should children learn some strategies for situations such as these? Please leave your thoughts in the comments! And spread the word to your friends and family.
