Cowboys Fight to Save Hundreds Of Farm Animals From Flood Waters - Now They Are Being Praised As Heroes

Our nation has been ravaged by incredibly severe weather these past few weeks, particularly in the Midwest, reports Fox News. Oklahoma has been especially hit hard with many communities being repeatedly decimated by tornadoes and flooding. These weather systems have caused untold destruction and several deaths, as well as affecting the state’s farmland.

According to the National Crop Insurance Services, nearly 80 percent of Oklahoma is devoted to agriculture. Therefore, thousands of horses, cows, and other types of farm animals are also in the crosshairs of Mother Nature’s wrath and in danger of drowning in the severe floods.

To help save these animals, a group of cowboys has stepped up to launch their very own rescue mission. Like their legendary forebearers, these cowboys are guided by their selfless attitude and desire to do what is right.

Casey Thomas, one of the cowboys who has been assisting in the rescue efforts, says in that it originally started when farmers began posting to social media asking for help in moving cattle away from the flood waters. Casey says that these pleas for help quickly turned into a united front as cowboys went from ranch to ranch helping each other.

Taking off work and using their own gas, the rescuers say that the work has been tiring but well worth it to save the animals. Cory Conley adds that none of them would have thought it right to simply let the animals die as they’re all cattle owners and know what it means to be responsible for a herd.

While the group was originally small, news of their efforts quickly spread over social media, leading to dozens of cowboys joining in to save the animals. Speaking with reporters, Hunter Webster said how inspiring it was to see total strangers join together to serve the greater good.

Some of the rescue tales have been truly inspiring, with many telling of how some of the cowboys jumped into deep flood water to guide cows to boats.

Although tired and in need of a day off, the cowboys have all said that they will not stop until the flood waters recede and all the animals have been brought to safety. Speaking on the support they have received from social media, one of the cowboys says that it is incredibly humbling and that he is grateful for the way the community has had their backs from the beginning.
