Courageous Teen Rescues 6-Year-Old Boy Attacked By Dog

On a recent summer day, a 6-year-old named Mason was enjoying a typical day of playing with his friends outside of his home in Conroe, Texas. Mason was having fun with his two friends when danger struck seemingly out of nowhere. A pit bull came charging toward the children, and it locked in on little Mason.

After reviewing surveillance footage from other homes in the neighborhood, it appeared that Mason tried to be friendly with the dog at first, then it rushed at him and knocked him over.

While the dog was pinning down Mason, the other children ran away, and Mason screamed in terror. Luckily, the boy's screams attracted some attention from a nearby teenager. 19-year-old Grant Brown was near enough to hear Mason's screams, and he realized that he had to do something, although he didn't know how to help at first.

When Grant approached the dog, it seemed to focus its attention on him. Grant decided that the dog would probably chase him if he ran, and that would serve to get him away from the 6-year-old. He clapped his hands to get the dog's attention and ran down the street to lure him away.

The dog chased the teenager, and surveillance footage shows the boy being chased by the pit bull. As the teenager ran at full speed, one of his shoes came off, and he went down to the ground. The dog was immediately on him, and the boy fought to prevent the pit bull from connecting with any harmful bites. He used his hands to keep the dog's jaws away and received a bite to his fingers.

Little Mason had to receive four staples for a gash at the back of his head, but he is recovering well. Grant is also recovering well after being treated for the bite to his fingers. According to KXXV the dog has been surrendered to animal control and the owners have been cited.
