Have you ever found a nest in your yard? If so, you probably wanted to go see if there were any baby birds in the nest. It can make you wonder how birds built these nests that are usually way bigger than they are.

These birds make these nests from whatever they can find. It's usually twigs and other materials in nature. If you are curious about birds' nests, check out these awesome photographs a couple took in South Africa. These are some huge bird nests!

The couple in question, Ann and Steve Toon, visited Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park which is in the Northern Cape in South Africa. They got to photograph the nests of the weavers and later shared their amazing trip online through their impressive pictures.

These unique birds build their large nests using telephone poles or acacias. These nests are big enough to hold more than 500 birds. They are probably very luxurious compared to other birds' nests around the world. These huge nests can weigh up to a ton, according to National Geographic. Over the years, the nests have been home to hundreds of tiny weaver birds. They are built by the male birds that use the telephone poles to help bud the big nests.

The nests that are built on the ground are made with sticks and twigs along with dried grass that can be found all around South Africa, according to the National Audobon Society. The male birds build these in order to attract a mate. Although there are many trees throughout the landscape, the birds have adapted and discovered that telephone poles work better for a place to build their nests. The weaver birds really seem to enjoy living in extremely large colonies. Therefore they build huge nests that can hold hundreds of them.

These large nests have not only rooms and chambers but also insulation to protect the birds from the temperatures that can get up to 104 degrees at the hottest time of the year. These nests can reach heights up to 13 feet high. This is all the more amazing when you remember that the birds that live in these nests are just over 5 inches long on average.

The couple that saw these amazing weaver nests were fascinated by them. The nests seemed so big and well-built! They even looked like a thatched roof on a hut. Now, more and more people are sharing these pictures. Everyone is so impressed at how well these birds build these huge and sophisticated nests.

Isn't nature incredible? These birds sure seem to know how to keep their own protected throughout the hot summer months in South Africa. Make sure you show this to all your nature- and animal-loving friends.
