Like many things in life, parenting can take shape in many forms. For one couple, Adele and Matt Allen from Brighton, England, they've decided to opt for a style of parenting they've called "Off-Grid Parenting." There are many unconventional principles to this style, which they discuss in an interview they've done with Barcroft TV.

Off-grid parenting is described by Adele on her Facebook page, The Unconventional Parent as: "A respectful and intuitive parenting style which seeks to raise children outside of institutions, fostering child autonomy and a deep connection to family, nature, and self."

She includes a post on her Instagram page that explains the philosophies further, with practices such as: "Appreciate the importance of equal bonding with both parents," and "Adopts positive discipline and non-violent communication to manage unwanted behavior," among other things.

Adele explains that while many stories in the press explain that the couple lives fully off-grid, that is not the case yet, however they intend to live 100% self-sustainably in the future.

In an interview with Barcroft TV, the family let a film crew into their home and life. The footage shows them all having fun in the backyard of their Brighton home, as Adele and Matt explain details of their atypical lifestyle. This includes breastfeeding both children—Ulysses, who is five-years-old, and Ostara, who is one. She discusses how they want their kids to learn in a "natural, free-range way." They have also decided to forgo medical intervention, including for both of Adele's births, and regular schooling for the children.

It's certainly not the mainstream approach to parenting, but it proves there are many ways to go about it. Adele states in the video that she's noticed this style of attachment parenting increasing in popularity, especially with celebrities.
