Couple Hides Pregnancy For Months Only To Show Up At Family's House With Baby Girl And Film Reactions

It's hard to keep a secret these days. Whether you have a new job or get a new car, keeping anything hidden from your friends and family in this day and age is nothing short of impossible. One couple, Ben and Hannah Hinders, who are now both 30 years old and who live in Hawaii, posted a video in 2016 filming their family members' reactions to some major news: there was a new baby in the family.

With our loved ones following us on Instagram, Facebook, and always a text message or phone call away, it takes a really clever (or sneaky) person to keep life-changing information private. But that's exactly what this couple did.

While most people are surprised and overjoyed to learn of a new addition to the family, the couple typically doesn't keep their child a secret for nine months, but that's exactly what happened with baby Ivy and her parents Ben and Hannah Hinders.

Somehow, the couple was able to hide the pregnancy and even kept the birth of the newborn a secret. During the pregnancy, they managed to shock some friends and family members when Hannah would turn up to places pregnant, much to the surprise of the people they were meeting. This was captured once in the video when Hannah and Ben Hinders went to meet some friends at the airport and saw Hannah Hinders—and then her baby bump! There were tears and shocked looks as their friends were in disbelief.

This was minor though, as they were saving the true big reveal until after Ivy was born.

The couple is originally from the East Coast but lives in Kailua, Hawaii. Living so far from their families means it’s harder to go back and visit frequently. In fact, they hadn’t seen their families in almost a year! It wasn't until the couple arrived at Hannah Hinders' family's house in Florida 10 months later that anyone laid eyes on Ivy, reports Made For Mums. The sneaky secret keepers managed to film the family's reaction as they were all introduced to the new-born they had no idea existed. That's certainly one way to kickstart a family reunion!

With baby Ivy in tow, the couple waited outside the front door, excited, yet nervous as they had no idea how the family would respond. While the arrival of a new baby is happy news, some people don't always respond well to secrets. However, the reactions they received were nothing short of priceless.

The family members were under the impression that the couple came by for a surprise visit. Little did they know how much of a surprise it would be. One by one, all the family members began to realize that there was an adorable new guest. Through laughter, shrieks, hugs, and tears, the family was beside themselves with joy and amazement.

This moment is truly a precious one as everyone in the home realizes they have a new cousin, niece, and granddaughter to celebrate. Birth is truly an incredible miracle and it's beautiful to see everyone celebrate baby Ivy's arrival.

Hannah Hinders, who was 27-years-old when she gave birth to Ivy Elizabeth on September 2, 2016, waited two months before debuting the baby to their loved ones. Just before the holiday season, the couple decided to pay a visit to both their families. Hannah’s family live in Florida, and Ben’s family live in Virginia.

Most people like to think of creative ways to reveal their pregnancies. A lot of people even have a gender reveal party to share the sex of their baby with the world. But hiding the entire pregnancy and turning up with the baby once it's born is one of the most creative reveals out there! According to TODAY, the couple came up with the idea when they were in the middle of a road trip with a group of friends and they all watched a heart-warming video of a surprise adoption with friends.

Ben Hinders confessed: "My wife had the idea of, 'Wouldn't it be crazy if we had a kid and didn't tell anybody and then just showed up on their doorstep?' Everybody was like, 'You're insane.'''

But they didn’t just stop at that secret, they decided to film the entire pregnancy journey including the scans, and all the surprises, and shared it on YouTube for the world to see. They filmed every shocked reaction, and all the emotions as one person after another met Ivy for the first time.

So how did they full off this incredible feat? Speaking to TODAY, 27-year-old Ben Hinders said “It was not easy. My wife was a champ of the whole process, that's for sure.”

To make sure their elaborate plan worked and to ensure no one would find out about the couple’s secret they limited their social media posts. Instead of full-length shots of Hannah Hinders, they made sure any photo of her did not reveal her tummy. They also populated their social media with the beautiful landscapes that Hawaii has to offer to keep their friends and family distracted.

"We had to be really stringent,'' Ben Hinders said. "I have friends who love Snapchat, and I had to tell them, 'No Hannah in the Snapchat.' I was being the police, and Hannah was unbelievably self-controlled to not share it with anyone."

As can be imagined, along with the happiness and delight demonstrated by their loved ones when they sprang their surprise, they also had to deal with the other emotions some family members displayed. A few were understandably upset and offended that they were not told about the new addition to the family.

"We had some anger come out after the fact, maybe a week or two later,'' Ben Hinders said. "My wife was pretty nervous, but we just thought, it's pretty hard when you meet Ivy to not fall right in love. Nobody was mad for very long if they were mad." And we’re sure no one could stay angry for long when they’re presented with such an incredible Christmas gift!

Ben Hinders concluded his interview by looking to the future. "If she has a sibling, they're going to be so disappointed because we're definitely not doing this again," Ben Hinders said. Could it be that the couple is already broody for more children? It sounds like they’re certainly thinking about it. We’ll have to watch this space!
