All of us have a secret wish that we would magically win the lottery – even if we don’t play it! For one lucky couple from the United Kingdom, this dream became a reality. And, although 2020 has just started, they’re explaining that it seems like all their wishes are coming true.

John and Allison McDonald, who live in Stockton-on-Tees, explained to the Metro that they’ve been having a rough time lately with their 15-year-old son battling cancer. While we’re sure that their son’s illness has been a financial drain, their recent winnings will certainly help to recover their finances.

The couple was thrilled when they discovered that they would be starting out 2020 with $2.6 million thanks to their winnings of the Lotto jackpot on December 18th. Long-time lottery players, the couple said to the Metro that it had always been their joint dream to win the jackpot at Christmas time.

But that wasn’t even the best news. Three days after winning the lottery, the couple took their son to a doctor’s appointment. Ewan was given the fantastic news that he is now cancer-free, reports The Sun.

While the couple may have had a difficult struggle over the last year, 2020 is now looking bright. John told The Sun that it seems like all of their lifelong dreams came true over a period of three days time. John also says that, while he and Allison had always talked about winning the lottery, they had never expected for it to actually happen.

Although winning $2.6million would be amazing, we know that the family is even more excited about their son being clear of his cancer. It seems like this is one family that just continues to receive one blessing after another.

Ewan spent most of 2019 undergoing chemo treatments after he was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in May, reports the Metro. Now, Ewan can say goodbye to the doctors while his parents say goodbye to their work. That’s right, both John, who has been a security guard at 62, and 49-year-old Allison who worked in an opticians, have both decided to resign from their work and told the Metro that it is an “amazing feeling.”
