Memorabilia from the past is always amazing to find. It becomes even more exciting when you happen to stumble on something by sheer accident. A homeowner recently posted a series of photographs containing some treasures he had found hidden away in his home.

The home was built in the 1940s. The homeowner was very adept at doing his own remodeling. He remodeled the first floor, then the second, before finally getting around to remodeling his basement. What he found was some hidden treasures from decades ago.

He first got intrigued when he found some old writings and drawings on a wall that had been covered up for decades. He peeled back the wall to find a dusty, antique green lunch box hidden away inside the ceiling behind the wall. He and his wife immediately went outside to open the little metal lunchbox. The two carefully opened the box, expecting to find some children’s toys or trinkets.

What they actually found came as an incredible surprise. Inside the lunch box was an old newspaper that was dated March 25, 1951. The newspaper was still in very good condition. What was underneath the newspaper was almost unbelievable! The couple found several wax paper packages that were filled with money, most of the cash being in twenty dollar bills.

The couple immediately started taking photos. They opened the second wax package to find it was full of $50 bills. Finally, as they opened the third package, they found it was full of $100s!

All of the bills were dated between 1928 and 1934. The couple had been working hard to pay off their mortgage and couldn’t believe this incredible turn of events. After celebrating, the homeowner returned a week later to continue the remodel and was surprised to stumble upon a second lunch box.

This box was full of $20s that were unwrapped and neatly aligned. After all, was said and done, the couple stumbled upon $45,000. A lawyer confirmed that the money was theirs to keep. In fact, some of the bills were even worth about four times their original face value. Talk about a lucky lunch box!
