Asymina Kantorowicz and her boyfriend Iliya Pavlovic took a hike on Vancouver Island on New Year's Day. When trying to get a good shot of themselves using a selfie stick a woman approached and asked if they'd like her to take the photo for them. However, they were star-struck when they realized the woman is asking was none other than the Duchess of Sussex herself, Meghan Markle and next to her was Prince Harry.
We’ve been doing this hike on New Year’s Day for the past two years. We took a little picnic out and we were finishing up and trying to get some selfies with the nice backdrop when a woman came up to us and asked if we wanted her to take our photo,” Asymina told People about the moment.
The royal couple along with baby Archie has been spending the holidays in Canada with Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland. It seems the parents decided to kick off their New Years with a little hike.

“We had noticed the group before, it was otherwise pretty secluded. They had two dogs with them and we wanted to pet one,” said Kantorowicz. However, Meghan and Harry had a friend tagging along with them, Abigail Spencer who was Markle's co-star on the T.V series "Suits." Asymina said she noticed Spencer before seeing Meghan and Harry.
“I’m a "Suits" fan and I first noticed Abigail and then I looked up and realized it was Meghan taking the photo. Then I looked back at the group and realized Prince Harry was there too!”
The couple say they couldn't believe that it was Meghan Markle taking the photograph for them. "There was Meghan smiling at me, waiting to take the photo and it was just shock at that moment and disbelief,” Asymina says.
“The only thing I could think to say to her was, ‘There’s only so much that selfie sticks can do,’” Asymina said. “She laughed and said something like, ‘We’ll have to take a good photo then,’ and then Harry added, ‘No pressure.’“

Besides offering to take the photograph, the couple said Markle was "super friendly and down-to-earth." They agreed that was very nice of her to offer to take their photo as they had been struggling to get one with the selfie stick.
"She and Harry seemed really happy — like a happy newly married couple. I wish baby Archie had been there! I hope they’re enjoying their stay on Vancouver Island," the couple said.
