Country Singer Luke Bryan Steps In For Emotional Dance At Niece Jordan's Wedding

Luke Bryan, 45, is many things to many people. For country music fans, he’s one of pop-country’s biggest stars, with hits like “Drunk On You,” “I Don’t Want This Night To End” and “Knockin’ Boots.” And to “American Idol” viewers, Bryan is one of the show’s most beloved judges, a role he took on in 2018. What people might not know is that Bryan is also a family man. After marrying Caroline Boyer in December 2006, the couple had two children: Thomas Boyer "Bo" Bryan in 2008 and Tatum "Tate" Christopher Bryan in 2010. And in 2014, when tragedy struck Bryan’s family, he had to make a decision that would change his family forever.

That year, Bryan’s brother-in-law, Ben Lee Cheshire, died after having a heart attack, leaving the man’s children — Tilden, Kris and Jordan — parentless. Their mother, Bryan’s sister, had suddenly and unexpectedly died seven years earlier in 2007. Given the tragic situation these three children were in, Bryan and his wife adopted Tilden, Kris and Jordan in 2015, and since then, the country singer has been a father to these three kids.

Bryan’s role as a father to his nieces and nephew is on display in a few touching videos taken at 26-year-old Jordan Cheshire’s wedding to longtime boyfriend, Clint Eudy, on Sept. 5, 2021. In the videos, we see Bryan walk Jordan down the aisle, fix her veil and take to the dance floor with his adopted daughter. Since the video hit social media and YouTube, fans have commented on how touching and sweet Jordan’s relationship with Bryan is.

“Looks like an emotional time. Luke and Caroline have been wonderful at stepping in at bringing up these children. LeClaire, you look beautiful!  Luke is precious at fixing the veil, brushing back her hair on the dance floor. Beautiful bride. Caroline and boys are so sweet. And the dance with Uncle Luke. How precious,” one fan commented on YouTube.

“Luke and Carolyn Bryan are awesome to take care of family. Beautiful wedding and tribute to family,” another fan added.

Jordan is one of three children that Bryan’s sister, Kelly, had with Lee. According to Biography.com, Kelly mysteriously died in 2007, just a month after she attended her brother’s first concert at the Grand Ole Opry, leaving Lee to raise their three children on his own. As if the Cheshires’ story wasn’t tragic enough, a heart attack took Lee’s life in 2014 during the Thanksgiving weekend. Jordan was 20 at the time.

"I've had so many tragedies in my life," Bryan told People. "It's almost like you don't want to tell the story because you don't want to feel like you're out there craving sympathy.”

But rather than shy away from the pain, Bryan and his wife courageously adopted his late sister’s children, though Jordan and Kris went off to college soon after losing their father.

“It kind of just happened and I woke up one day and I’m raising a teen. And it’s a challenge because my main thing with Til is just properly giving the right amount of advice and realizing you’re talking to someone who is becoming an adult,” Bryan told People in 2017 of integrating Tilden into his family.

“I have to be that parent role where if he does something, he needs to get in trouble, but I want to be a friend to him too.”

Bryan is also sensitive to the pain that comes along with such a transition.

“Obviously my nieces and nephew, they didn’t ask for this,” Bryan told People in 2015. “Their life was amazing before Caroline and I took a more prominent role, even after losing their mother. Now my focus is trying to do what we can to help them.”

And Bryan has helped them. In a touching video from Jordan’s wedding, Bryan and his niece take to the dance floor for what is almost like a father-daughter dance. With string lights and flowers overhead, the two swayed to Phil Collins’ “You’ll Be In My Heart,” which is known for its feature in “Tarzan.” And later, the whole family joined on the dance floor.

Jordan has consistently updated her more than 30,000 Instagram followers regarding the engagement and wedding.

“And just like that we’re married🤍 09.05.21 will forever hold the most special place in my heart. @clinteudy I will love you until the end of time,” Jordan wrote on Instagram alongside photos from the wedding.

In a more recent interview from July 2021, Bryan once again opened up about how he’s dealt with life’s tragedies. Beyond losing a sister and brother-in-law, Bryan’s brother Chris passed away in 1996 at the age of 26 after getting in a car accident.

"Maybe Chris and Kelly and Lee have moved some puzzle pieces around to make my life so fortunate," Bryan told People. "When I say my prayers at night, I have to say, 'Thank y'all for looking after us down here.'"
