Singer Kelly Clarkson has had it with the country music that is being played on the radio nowadays. She claims it isn’t country music and is more of rap/talk-singing. Clarkson ranted about it on her Youtube channel recently and a lot of commenters agreed with her.

Kelly Clarkson sounded off about the genre during a Q&A on her youtube channel. Clarkson was asked if she knew what the term “farm emo” meant. This term means country music genre itself however, Clarkson thought it meant “a very sad country person.” Once she discovered the true meaning of the term Clarkson hit back with,

“You know why? Because country music doesn’t sound country anymore, so they’re making up terms to be like, ‘This is country.’ Country music is gone. I don’t know who’s making it, but there might be like four people.”

One of Kelly’s biggest problems with what she believes country music has become is the talk/rapping that is now in so many songs played on country music stations. “I don’t want to feel like I’m at some weird rock show where they start rapping,” said Clarkson, although the singer didn’t name any artists who were doing this.

“Why are you rapping in country music? I don’t understand it. I mean, let’s be progressive, I get it, but come on. And it’s not just one. It’s a lot of y’all. And it’s bad.”

Clarkson then took another jab saying that female artists in country music are not played nearly enough as men are. “I love that when I started to do country, they were like, ‘Oh you’re pop. You’re not country enough.’ I’m like, ‘I’m sorry, let me show you this list of the Top 20,’ which by the way did not include one female.”

The star added, “Y’all don’t play people with boobs either, [but] it’s fine. ‘Oh you got boobs, you’re not a man, get out of here.’ What happened? Do you want me to go off on how many women were so monumental in my [career]?” she asked, and then began naming famous country music performers including Reba McEntire, Dolly Parton, and Shania Twain.

“What is happening in country music? This is what’s happening. Y’all aren’t playing country music anymore.”

Commenters under her rant agreed with Clarkson with one saying,

"Thank you for addressing what's happened to the country music genre!  Completely agree with you!”

While another commented, “I feel the same about country music. Bring it back! Where are the females? Bring on the Highwomen!”
