The Petersens, a country band from West Virginia, amazed many with their rendition of "Take Me Home, Country Roads."

Many of us have a special bond with the town where we grew up. Along with these bonds comes many memories. Some of these memories are happy, and some are not so happy. Regardless of the types of memories, one has for their hometown; they are memories that made them into who they became as an adult. Many of us will grow up and move away from our hometown. When we do, whether we move close or miles from where we grew up, many of us will yearn to go back. We crave the feeling of being in our hometown. Let us not forget how John Denver put that into perspective for us with his song about West Virginia.

The inspiration for Denver's song about West Virginia came to the band years before John recorded it. It came about by Bill Danoff and his wife, Taffy Nivert. The couple was driving along a picturesque country road; it was near Clopper Road in West Virginia. While Danoff and Nivert were not locals of West Virginia, they did write a song about how much they appreciated the beauty of this country road they drove down. They felt as though they must be almost in heaven.

The couple's efforts for the song about West Virginia were first met with hostility by the West Virginians. But later, it became one of their most famous symbols for the state. Today it is almost an anthem.

Let us now look at a family from West Virginia who sings a cover of Denver's song with perfection. They sing it as though they are in the hills of West Virginia. It is beautiful. Before we do, though, there are a few things everyone should know about the Petersens. The family band has catered their musical talents to all those who have passed through Branson, Missouri. They did this for more than a decade. Like many musicians today, the Petersen Family Band went online with their music.

Recently, the family has uploaded a video covering Denver's "Take Me Home, Country Roads". They speak of how they used to live in West Virginia and tell of how they thought it would be an excellent idea to sing the song.

There was a trio who sang the vocals for "Take Me Home, Country Roads". Katie, Julienne, and Matthew. They wrote in the description of the video on YouTube that their father grew up in West Virginia. For many of them, they have fond childhood memories in the hills of West Virginia.

The family band has let a new member in, Emmet Franz. He is in the video playing a traditional country and bluegrass instrument called the dobro. The family amazes those who have already heard the song. They are almost angelic like; many say they have sounded heaven like in their rendition of "Take Me Home, Country Roads". In the video of the Petersen Band singing their rendition of the song, fans can see their passion for music.
