Rainer Hersch is quite the talent. Not only is he a popular British stand-up comedian, but he is also a trained pianist and a conductor. He proved how he could expertly blend the two skillsets in a video that was uploaded by the Rainer Hersch Fan Channel in April 2013.

Hersh is primarily known for his comedic ability, performing all over the UK and the world. However, he also excels at blending his musical talents into his shows.

One such performance earned Hersh rave reviews and acclaim from all over the globe. Hersch had the honor of conducting the Philharmonia Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall in London. The musicians begin the performance by playing the “William Tell Overture” by Rossini. It seems like an ordinary performance at first glance.

However, the show quickly takes an interesting turn when Hersch begins playing a horn cue in an odd place in the song. It does not take long for the entire orchestra to begin playing offbeat intentionally.

What ensues is true comedic genius as Hersch is able to egg the audience along with the mistakes. The performance even features a typewriter as part of the ensemble. A highlight of the hilarity is when Hersch stops to juggle along with the violins.

Hersch is able to bring a lighter side to what is usually a straight orchestra performance. The audience was clearly into the antics, roaring with Hersch at all of the right times.

It is hard to explain the performance without seeing it for yourself. After you have watched this video, feel free to pass it along to all of your friends and family. You will see the orchestra in a completely different light after watching this unique show.
