Compassionate Barbers Help Autistic Teen Feel Comfortable By Cutting His Hair Anywhere

A haircut shouldn't be a terrifying experience. For autistic kids, however, a haircut can become frightening due to the sensory issues presented. To cut down on the stress of going to the barber, the kids don't go to the barber. The barber comes to them. At least that's what goes on in the United Kingdom where Donncha O'Connell offers to cut kids hair "on the go."

When O'Connell found out that 16-year-old Evan O'Dwyer felt safer in the back of his mother's car, O'Connell cut the young man's hair right there. O'Connell didn't think it was too much trouble. He was happy to do the job and help the teen and his mom out. Evan's mom felt overwhelmed at the act of kindness O'Connell displayed. O'Connell wasn't looking for any special praise. He didn't want to abandon Evan. O'Connell didn't find anything difficult about cutting hair in the car.

James Williams is another barber who goes out of his way to help autistic children. Williams pointed out many barbers won't cut autistic kid's hair. They don't have the patience or temperament to lend a helping hand and an accompanying pair of scissors. Williams, like O'Connell, understands autistic kids often prefer familiar settings. They might even feel better about a haircut by sitting on a windowsill when the barber clips away. Williams does his best to accommodate his young friends.

Both barbers are building up a decent collection of young clients. Perhaps a word about their good natures and kind gestures got around.

Don't let the story about these two fantastic barbers fade away. Tell your friends about it. The tale of the traveling barbers will make anyone feel good.
