Pets are like family. When you have a pet, whether it be a dog, cat, or any other kind of creature, you become emotionally bonded with the animal. Just as you care for them, so too do they care for you.

It is reprehensible when thoughtless individuals steal someone else’s pet as it creates an emotional trauma for both the owner and animal alike. The story of one stolen dog in Texas is being posted throughout social media in the hopes that the animal will be returned to its rightful owner.

Jessica Nugent of Aransas Pass is the proud mother of two boys. One of her sons, 13-year-old Brayden, has Down syndrome and is non-verbal. To help her son, Jessica adopted a pit bull puppy named Kase last March. Kase is Brayden’s emotional support dog, providing him with a way to express his emotions. Brayden and Kase do everything together, from playing on the family’s spacious five-acre ranch to sleeping in the same bed. Tragically, Kase was stolen from the family’s property earlier this week reports KIII TV.

Speaking with reporters from the local news station, Jessica told of how she was working on the ranch as Kase played with their other dogs. When she was finished, Jessica could find no sign of Kase. Enlisting one of the family’s other pit bulls to help in the search, Jessica said that her dog could find no trace of Kase’s scent. With Brayden’s dog nowhere to be found, Jessica reported the incident to her local police department.

Despite the sad situation, Jessica is hopeful that the person who took Kase will do the right thing and return her son's dog. Jessica is offering a $500 reward for anyone who can return Kase to her home safely. As of now, Brayden is unaware that Kase has been stolen. Jessica told reporters that Brayden is currently visiting with family for the summer and that she hopes that Kase will be returned to the family before Brayden returns home for school.

Jessica and her family will be in our thoughts and prayers until their puppy is returned to them. What do you think of the case? What do you think should be done to help the family find their beloved dog?
