Comedian Shaun Johnson's Video Of Nightly Bedtime Excuses From Kids Is Spot On

While parents enjoy the break that getting children in bed offers, the challenges that bedtime presents often make the entire event far from pleasant. Parents around the globe dread the nightly routine that’s usually complete with wheedling, whining, and begging children to do what’s necessary to get in bed.

You know how it goes – you have to practically force your kids to put on their pajamas, take showers, and brush their teeth, and that’s just the beginning of the battle. Next comes story time, which is followed by incessant pleas for more stories, and then the endless requests for water. Once they are finally tucked in bed and the lights are out, kids still find reasons to sneak out of bed and try to stay up a little longer.

Shaun Johnson is one comedian who understands the struggles of bedtime far too well. He made a parody video that captures exactly what happens when parents try to get kids to sleep, and it has the entire internet rolling in laughter.

He starts the video by pretending to be a little child sneaking out of his bedroom. Dressed in a ridiculous pair of over-sized pajamas, he gets on hands and knees and sneaks around the corner of the stairs, peering around like someone who is on a special army mission.

He then gets the crowd rolling by asking a nonchalant child-like question that attempts to distract his pretend parents from the fact that he is no longer in bed.

Johnson then acts like his parents have told him to go back upstairs to bed, so he crawls up the stairs on the carpeted flooring. But don’t worry – he hasn’t disappeared for long!

In true child-like fashioned, he then returns to the stairs, lying out on them and acting like he has decided to start living on them.

In a hilarious turn of events, Johnson is then dressed up as the frustrated mom, complete with a blonde wig. She is trying to relax under a blank and use her tablet, but obviously sees her child sneaking out of bed. The look on Johnson’s face as he pretends to be the mom is absolutely hilarious!

Surprisingly enough, Johnson doesn’t have any children of his own yet. But he assured ABC Action News that he has gotten plenty of experience and inspiration thanks to his nieces and nephews, who don’t like bedtime at all!

Obviously, Johnson does know exactly what he’s talking about since parents across the internet are absolutely in love with his parody. Some moms are said to be laughing so hard that they’re crying as they watch the adult man act out an all-too-familiar scene.
