Colin Farrell is one of the most renowned Irish actors in Hollywood. Since becoming a leading man and a famed actor in blockbusters and independent films in the early 2000s, Farrell established himself as a decorated actor because of his talent and passion for the arts.

He began acting in the 1998 BBC drama series “Ballykissangel” and made his big screen debut in the 1999 film “War Zone.” However, it wasn’t until he became a lead actor in the war drama “Tigerland,” and his Steven Spielberg debut “Minority Report” in 2002 that he received critical acclaim. The film received an overwhelming response from critics. It was awarded an Academy Award, a BAFTA and a Saturn Award, among many other prestigious recognitions.

Since his career took off, Farrell has landed big roles in Hollywood, including as Bullseye in “Daredevil,” and Alexander in “Alexander the Great.” He also starred in movies like “Miami Vice,” “Cassandra's Dream,” “Total Recall and Saving Mr. Banks,” among many others.

Farrell is an amazing actor with a plethora of awards and recognitions under his belt. In 2009, he received his first Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Comedy Motion Picture for “The Lobster.” Most recently, his 2022 film “The Banshees of Inisherin” catapulted his career to greater heights. He won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor, a Volpi Cup for Best Actor at the Venice Film Festival, a BAFTA Film Award, Screen Actors Guild Award and earned an Academy Award nomination for his outstanding portrayal of Pádraic Súilleabháin.

At the 2023 Oscars, Farrell took his son, Henry Tadeusz, as his official date for the prestigious event. Henry’s appearance at the Oscars’ champagne carpet was a rare occasion, which is why many were thrilled to see the father-and-son duo out and about.

Farell’s personal life, like his filmography, is quite colorful. In 2000, he met English actress Amelia Warner at the premiere of “Quills” in 2000. They went on to be in a relationship until November 2001. At the time, speculations on their marriage came about, but Farrell debunked it, describing their relationship as "too fast, too young.”

With his undeniable charm and handsome looks, Farrell was a true ladies' man; he famously dated Britney Spears, Nicole Narain, Elizabeth Taylor, Maeve Quinlan, Demi Moore and even Angelina Jolie

In 2003, Farrell had a son with American model Kim Bordenave. Five years later, Farrell revealed that his son James Padraig was diagnosed with Angelman syndrome, an uncommon genetic disorder that is characterized by a delay in the person’s intellectual and developmental aspects, including lack of speech and an excitable demeanor.

After dating several other women, Farrell also dated British film director and writer Emma Forrest, whom Farell planned to have a child with. However, their relationship ended. In 2009, Farrell had a child with his “Ondine” co-star Alicja Bachleda-Curuś, the mother of his son, Henry. Their relationship did not last, however, and ended in 2010.

On many occasions, Farrell has spoken dearly about his son Henry on talk shows. In a 2020 interview on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” he confessed to having committed a parenting faux pas when he and his then 8-year-old son watched “It.”

"That was a parental dropping of the ball of epic proportions," Farrell revealed.  "We watched it at home, and we watched half of it and, uh … I could discern a certain discomfort that was emanating from his 8-year-old body."

Farell and his son, Henry, seem to be close with each other as the latter has been confident in saying things to his father that no one would bravely tell the famed actor. In a 2022 interview with Ellen DeGeneres, Farrell confessed to another encounter that left his son “mortified.”

"I didn't know (short shorts are) in now. My youngest son would disagree vehemently with you. Because he's mortified,” he said, explaining that Henry begs him not to wear them. "He says, 'Please, Dad, do not wear the short shorts.' And he told him, 'They feel good.' It's not a fashion thing."

The pair's kookiness was clearly on show at the 2023 Oscars champagne carpet as Farrell, on a rare occasion, had his 13-year-old son Henry as his date for the highly-anticipated show.

When asked by Extra to reveal something that many people do not know about his famous dad, Farrell jokingly dragged his son away as he was about to spill something controversial – “Don’t capitulate to that pressure!” Farrell joked.

Farell and Henry looked dashing as they posed for cameras at the Hollywood celebration. But before coming to the awaited ceremony, Farrell confessed that he and his son skipped the pre-Oscars celebration for a more intimate hang together.

“The party was in the hotel we were staying on, on the ground floor. We couldn’t even get in the lift to press G. We’re in our pajamas, eating cheeseburgers, watching ‘The Whale,’ it was perfect,” he admitted. “It was raining outside, me and him in our pajamas, talking about this weekend, couldn’t have been any better.”

Like his dad, Henry was humble when the outlet asked him who he thought would win Best Actor between him and Brendan Fraser, as he said the latter was “amazing” in “The Whale.”
