Coaches Of 'The Voice' Agree 15-Year-Old's 'Dancing On My Own' Cover Was 'The Best Audition'

We’ve seen countless artists take over "The Voice" stage over the years, and most of them do not disappoint. Running for more than ten years already on NBC, the reality singing competition continues to produce high-caliber talents and give opportunities to those who are still starting in the business.

But despite how many talented artists have come and gone, there will always be some that would blow the coaches’ minds off. In March 2023, 15-year-old Ryley Tate Wilson seemed to have all four of the coaches at the edge of their seats, wanting to give each other huge blows at the parking lot so that they could be picked as his coach for the season.

Singing “Dancing On My Own” by Robyn, Wilson had a four-chair turn from Kelly Clarkson, Niall Horan, Blake Shelton, and Chance The Rapper. He was met with resounding applause and a standing ovation by the entire stadium and with Clarkson and Horan.

As soon as he finished singing, Wilson introduced himself.

“Oh my goodness. I’m Ryley Tate Wilson. I’m 15 years old, and I’m from Montgomery, Alabama,” the young crooner said before the coaches let out a collective gasp upon hearing him say his age.

Clarkson, confused, said that she did not hear anything after he said “15.” After Wilson’s clarification, the coaches were floored, shocked that his voice sounded so good at a young age.

As the coaches gave their own pitches of why they deserved to be chosen as Wilson’s coach, the young crooner was nothing but all smiles and admiration to them.

Horan, who is the former member of One Direction, declared that Wilson’s audition piece was “the best audition” they have seen on the season by a long shot. He also recalled auditioning for “X Factor UK” at that time, as he was “shaking like a leaf” back then.

Clarkson, on the other hand, pointed out that she was the first one to turn around, even highlighting that she had experience in winning the show with young artists.

Chance The Rapper, on the other hand, tapped into Wilson’s musical influences, which leaned towards R&B like him. He also said that he knows Steve Lacy, the progressive R&B artist who Wilson considers an influence.

Lastly, Shelton, who considered himself the “fourth choice” for Wilson’s coach, did not go down without a fight. He even said that he would be quitting if Wilson chose him as his coach.

Torn with the decision, Horan, who expressed much admiration for Wilson, said that he’s willing “to go blows” at the parking lot with Shelton just to win him. Ultimately, Wilson chose Team Niall.

As soon as the audition video hit online, it has already amassed almost 3 million views, full of praises and compliments for the young superstar in the making.

“His voice is one of the most beautiful things i’ve ever heard! He’s surely my favorite this season! I can’t wait to watch his journey on the Voice this season!” someone commented

“Not often that someone’s voice brings tears to my eyes. The emotion in this kids voice did just that. And he’s only 15 years old. Mark my words this kid is going to be HUGE one day. I can only imagine what he’ll sound like at 30. I hope I’m around to hear him,” another shared
