Clever Stray Cat Tricks Woman Into Buying Him Treats At Store And Finds Forever Home In the Bargain

Cats have a reputation for being standoffish creatures. Tania Sants in Mexico, though, has certainly learned that that is not always the case! She was on her way to the store when she saw a beautiful, but scruffy, little white cat. She was pleasantly surprised when the cat let her pet him.

She was even more delighted when the cat followed her into the store! It became clear, though, that this cat wanted more than affection when he blocked her from getting her groceries. This was a cat on a mission!

After blocking Sants’ way, her new cat friend herded her into a particular aisle, the cat food aisle. It didn’t take long for Sants to figure out what exactly the stray cat wanted. When she picked up a bag of tuna treats, the cat reached up and touched the treats with his paw to show that Sants had exactly what he wanted. She fed the cat and headed home, never expecting to see the clever stray again.

Every time Sants went back to that store, the little white cat was waiting patiently. This affectionate and smart cat did the same thing again, leading Sants to his preferred treats. This continued to happen again and again, and Sants began to wonder where this surprisingly smart cat had come from.

Sants asked around the neighborhood and at the store. What she discovered was that this clever cat had been without a home for a long time. She knew that such a lovely cat didn’t deserve to live the hard life of a stray. She was ready to give her new buddy more than just his preferred brand of treats.

”I took him to my house and I adopted him,” Sants told The Dodo.

The next time Sants went to the store, she recorded her entire exchange with the cat. Watching the video, you can see the cat waiting for her and leading her right to his favorite treats! Sants made sure with the store employees that the cat was, indeed, a stray.

”They told me that no one had come looking for him. They thanked me for taking him home.”

In fact, she was the first person to even ask about this sweet cat. She bought her new fur baby, who she named Rabbit, the treats he requested as well as enough others to keep him in plenty of great tasting food for a long time.

”I bought him many treats. He can trust that I always will.”

I am sure Rabbit appreciates his new pet parent’s kindness. His story just shows that with a little ingenuity, you can get the treats you want, and a loving home to go with it.
