Church Service Intervened By 10 Drummers And Their Incredible Performance Had The Crowd Going Nuts

We all love the classic song “The Little Drummer Boy.” In the story, one lone drummer had to bang on a drum as best as he could. What would have happened if that little boy had his own drum line to work with?

Thanks to a service performed close to Christmas Day, we do not have to ponder that question any longer. The Church of Sutherland was the lucky church that was witness to an entire drum line who got onto the stage dressed up in full marching band uniforms. They were there to add their own spin to this beautiful Christmas song.

In the beginning, one drummer tapped out the popular rhythm of the song.

Many people believe that this song is turning 60-years-old this year, as it was released in 1958 by Harry Simeone Chorale. However, the song was originally written by Katherine Kendicott Davis in 1941. Not only that, the song was originally called “Carol of the Drum.

The actual recording didn’t drop until 1951. That was when the Von Trapp Family decided to record their own unique vocals of the song. The original song was all a cappella and had a faster beat. They slowed it down to the version most of us are now familiar with.

So many people have since re-recorded this version, such as The Jackson 5, Johnny Cash, and Joan Jett. In the version we are about to see and hear, Sam King, the worship coordinator, is the one to perform the lyrics.

Sam sings along with the lone drummer. The other musicians also sing along to the lyrics we enjoy so much. While it was a bit different than what we are used to, that is why it has become a viral hit online.

After the first minute of the song is over, the drummer stops playing. The drum line then begins to move in formation as they join in. Their impressive drumming includes all kinds of different rhythms and beats.

When the song is over, the whole congregation stands to applaud.

Are you ready to hear and see the performance for yourself? Don’t be shocked when you find that you want to air-drum along with the group- they are that good!
