Over 1,500 people in Kansas received the most important letter of their lives before the Easter holiday. In the letter sent by the Pathway Church, it was revealed that each family's debt had been forgiven. The church specified that this act of kindness was in the name of Jesus.

Pathway Church, located in Wichita, had a significant amount of money originally intended to advertise for their services over the Easter weekend. Instead of spending this money on marketing, the church decided to give back to the community by paying off $2.2 million worth of medical debt for families throughout Kansas.

Pathway Church worked closely with a non-profit by the name of RIP Medical Debt. This organization helps to reduce the suffering experienced by families and individuals in extreme medical debt.

RIP Medical Debt forgives and buys this debt from each family. For each penny donated to this non-profit, one dollar of a family's medical debt is forgiven.

Pathway is simply one of the countless churches across the country that have pledged to help families suffering from medical debt with the help of RIP Medical Debt.

Since its inception, the organization has helped save families from $676 million worth of debt.

On their official website, RIP Medical Debt explains that their organization seeks to "abolish debt" for individuals and families whose total income is less than double the national poverty level. This non-profit also aids those families whose debts account for five percent of their yearly income.

Dr. John Carter, Pathway Church's lead pastor, revealed this kind gesture on Easter Sunday. In total, the church helped to pay off debt for more than 1,600 families throughout the Wichita area and the entire state.

Pathway Church delivered this happy news on their Facebook page. The church compared the forgiveness of these medical debts to Jesus' death on the cross.

Pathway Church and RIP Medical Debt went a step further than forgiving the debt for these 1,600+ families. All of the credit damage incurred from late payments and defaults has also been forgiven. This will allow each family to start fresh with a clean credit history.

In his announcement, Dr. Carter drew a comparison between the freedom from medical debt and the freedom from sin.
