We hear shocking headlines every day, but none of us ever expect to be a part of one. One teenager from Swansboro, North Carolina, is making news for something shocking and unusual that happened to her in a place where she was supposed to feel safe. The 19-year-old girl, named Jenna, was attending church when she excused herself during service to use the restroom. However, she could have never expected what would happen next.

A female leader of the church began to follow the young girl into the bathroom. Out of nowhere, the insulting and shocking situation began. The church leader took it upon herself to start body-shaming the teen for what she was wearing: a typical pair of denim shorts, something that most teens wear in the summer. "What, you don't think you're fat?" she asked Jenna.

Jenna, feeling uneasy and attacked by the situation, decided to record the encounter using her smartphone. In the footage, the church leader is overheard telling the girl that she is too chubby to wear the outfit that she is wearing. The member then begins to tell the teenager that she is not allowed to sing alongside her peers in the pews.

Jenna, clearly feeling helpless and intimidated by the situation, begins sobbing and telling the woman to leave her alone through tears. The video is a little uncomfortable to watch but was posted on Jenna’s Twitter account where it went viral, reaching all continents of the world and sparking quite the response from those that have seen it.

Jenna admits on Twitter that she has undergone therapy before for issues such as depression, anxiety and ADD. Situations such as this one can be triggering for those who struggle with mental health issues, and Jenna admits that this incident could have broken her if it occurred during a more vulnerable moment in her life.

This video is unlike anything you’ve seen before, and it has now sparked national outrage. People who have come across the video are now rampantly defending the teenage girl. Admittedly, Jenna states that she no longer wants to be a part of the church where the verbal abuse occurred.

Thankfully, many supporters are backing her and helping her through this difficult time. You can learn more about this story below. What do you think about this outrageous situation? Has anyone ever commented negatively on your outfit in public?
