Christina Aguilera Joins Jimmy Fallon And Will Ferrell In The "Tight Pants" Skit

Jimmy Fallon loves to incorporate his guests on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon into strange and quirky comedic skits. He's well known for performing his "Tight Pants" skit with Will Ferrell, going all the way back to 2012. Jennifer Lopez has appeared in the sketch before, but this time they've included singer Christina Aguilera, where the three of them face off about who has the "tightest pants in the land." As expected with three performers of this caliber, the result is hilarious.

The sketch begins with Will Ferrell on his own, donning some extra tight white pants and a very 1970s hairdo and green-and-blue turtleneck. He saunters onstage and begins dancing, before starting to sing: "Everybody's talking about my tight pants, got my tight pants, got my tight pants on." The comedian is so well known and liked at this point, that the crowd is cheering and laughing the entire time.

He's then joined onstage by Christina Aguilera, who is similarly wearing tight white pants –– or specifically leggings with a miniskirt –– a colorful zigzag-print top, and a very retro blonde hairdo that's not unlike Will Ferrell's. She also begins to belt out about her tight pants, however, with her it's clear she is a talented musician that has a strong vocal skillset.

But the brunt of the joke really begins when Jimmy Fallon comes out, once again in tight white pants and also with a '70s aesthetic. There's obviously tension between the trio, which comes to a head as Ferrell begins to ask Fallon about his statement that everybody in the town is talking about his tights pants, when supposedly the townspeople had been talking about their tight pants. An exchange occurs that is both hilarious and wacky, but it's best to be viewed first hand.

The sketch pokes fun at various things, not only tight pants but also extravagant 1970s style. And what makes it so great is that Fallon, Ferrell, and Aguilera are all very talented performers, be it singing, dancing, or acting, which makes the jokes land that much better.

Tight pants originate from 17th Century France, when during Louis XIII's reign, breeches were deemed fashionable and regularly worn by the royal court. They then spread to England and other European nations, and were particularly popular with the high classes. They've since evolved into all forms of tight-fitting pants, including skinny jeans, chinos and yoga pants.

Considering this history, it's little wonder that comedians Ferrell and Fallon find the history of tight pants so funny. Especially when you consider the most recent iterations of tight pants in contrast to this history –– it makes for an absurd comedy skit.
