On Wednesday night, Crissy Teigen announced that she had suffered a miscarriage following a 3-day hospitalization for bleeding issues. Her Instagram post heartbreakingly reports that her unborn baby boy had died following complications:

"We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before," Teigen wrote. "We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough."

The post reads further that Chrissy and husband John never decide on their children's names "until the last possible moment after they are born", but that "for some reason, we started calling this little guy in my belly Jack. So he will always be Jack to us."

"Jack worked so hard to be a part of the family, and he will be, forever," she added.

"To our Jack - I’m so sorry that the first few moments of your life were met with so many complications, that we couldn’t give you the home you needed to survive. We will always love you."

Chrissy was put on bed rest a few weeks earlier but decided to go to the hospital when she began experiencing intermittent bleeding, reports USA Today. Three days ago, she was hospitalized when her bleeding became significantly worse.

She continued to update her 31 million followers on her condition on both Instagram and Twitter while at the hospital. In one Instagram story post, she had said that "In the simplest of terms, we can say my placenta is really, really weak," according to Cosmopolitan. She was at about the half-way mark during her pregnancy at this time.

Chrissy Teigen and husband John Legend share two children together: Luna, 4, and Miles, 2. She announced her pregnancy in August 2020 through her husband's new music video "Wild". Both of Teigen's children were conceived through in-vitro fertilization, so her third pregnancy also took her by surprise, reports USA Today

In this difficult time, Chrissy is leaning on her husband and family for support. She adds that she is grateful for the life she has, and for her children, but that every day cannot be full of sunshine. She ended her emotional Instagram post with a promise.

"On this darkest of days, we will grieve, we will cry our eyes out. But we will hug and love each other harder and get through it," Teigen wrote.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Chrissy Teigen and her family during this difficult time.
