Chrissy Teigen Shows Sweet Way Daughter Luna Honored Baby Jack As Family Receives His Ashes

After announcing her pregnancy in August, Chrissy Teigen tragically lost her baby in September following hospitalization amid complications related to partial placenta abruption.

Now, over one month after her pregnancy loss, she's posted a touching video to Instagram that shows her daughter Luna honoring her deceased brother Jack. 

Back in September, Chrissy Teigen announced that she had suffered a miscarriage following a 3-day hospitalization for bleeding issues related to partial placenta abruption. Her Instagram post heartbreakingly reported that her unborn baby boy had died following complications: 

"We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before," Teigen wrote. "We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough."

Heartbreakingly, the post explained that Chrissy and husband John never decide on their children's names "until the last possible moment after they are born," but that "for some reason, we started calling this little guy in my belly Jack. So he will always be Jack to us." She continued:

"Jack worked so hard to be a part of the family, and he will be, forever. To our Jack—I’m so sorry that the first few moments of your life were met with so many complications, that we couldn’t give you the home you needed to survive. We will always love you."

Chrissy and her husband John Legend already share two children—Luna, 4, and Miles, 2. Both of Teigen's children were conceived through in-vitro fertilization, so her third pregnancy also took her by surprise, reports USA Today.

Now, over one month after the loss of baby Jack and after Chrissy had opened up about their journey in a heartfelt essay, she has shared some further news via Instagram. Posting two short videos, the clips show the sweet gesture that "empathetic" Luna did for baby Jack. In the first video, Chrissy speaks in voiceover while she focuses the video on a teddy bear. She says:

"This is the cutest, most beautiful thing I have ever seen. We just got baby Jack's ashes back, so they're in here for now with some blessed holy tie string." She continued: "Luna put a little therapy bear around him, and the best part is, I came down and she gave him a piece of her favorite snack. A tiny piece of Pirate's Booty. She's amazing."

Meanwhile, the second video shows Luna introducing the bear to Jack while asking, "How are you doing today?"

Chrissy captioned the pair of videos with a touching personal note from herself, writing:

"im [sic] just thinking a lot about jack today. our house is very open about life, death, grief, everything really. we try to explain things well and answer every question imaginable in a beautiful, spiritual but literal way. I know this is a weird post but I just wanted to share these to always remember my incredibly empathetic little mini. life is infinitely better with her in it. I miss u, jack. we miss you a lot."

Prior to the tragic loss of baby Jack at 20 weeks into her pregnancy, Teigen had been updating fans on Twitter and Instagram about her journey. The sudden loss of Jack was incredibly public, and after letting the world know, Teigen took a short break from social media. She returned and opened up about the incident in a heartfelt essay posted to Medium.

In the essay, she described the family's plans to commemorate Jack, writing:

"All I know now is his ashes are in a small box, waiting to be put into the soil of a tree in our new home, the one we got with his room in mind."

She continued:

"People say an experience like this creates a hole in your heart. A hole was certainly made, but it was filled with the love of something I loved so much. It doesn’t feel empty, this space. It feels full."

In this difficult time, Chrissy is leaning on her husband and family for support. Just recently, she and Legend got matching tattoos in honor of Jack.
