This weekend, Chrissy Teigen, 34, revealed on social media that she got a tattoo in honor of her late son, Jack, the son she lost in the middle of her pregnancy last month.

The celebrity chef already has the names of her husband, John Legend, and their two children, Milo and Luna, inked on her wrist.

Teigen first announced the tragic news that the couple had lost their baby on Instagram on October 1, alongside black-and-white photos of the couple in a hospital room. While expecting their third child, a boy that they'd already named Jack, Teigen experienced complications while giving birth and the baby didn't make it.

Taking to Twitter this Saturday, the 34-year-old posted a photo of her wrist with a calligraphy tattoo that spelled out ‘Jack,’ right above her tattoo dedicated to Legend.

Teigen revealed in a heartfelt essay last week, published by Medium, that doctors had diagnosed her with partial placenta abruption. Her diagnosis meant she had been on bed rest for over a month prior, with the goal of getting Jack to the 28-week mark, when she could then safely deliver him early.

However, she was eventually admitted to the hospital with excessive bleeding. Although doctors had given her “bags and bags of blood transfusions,” they were ultimately “never able to stop the bleeding.”

“We never decide on our babies' names until the last possible moment after they're born, just before we leave the hospital,” Teigen explained. “But we, for some reason, had started to call this little guy in my belly Jack. So he will always be Jack to us. Jack worked so hard to be a part of our little family, and he will be, forever…”

In her essay, the 34-year-old revealed many found it odd that she decided to share photos of her experience publicly, but she defended her decision, saying she needed to share her story: “[...]But I knew I needed to know of this moment forever, the same way I needed to remember us kissing at the end of the aisle, the same way I needed to remember our tears of joy after Luna and Miles. And I absolutely knew I needed to share this story.”

On October 14, Legend performed at the 2020 Billboard Music Awards and made a special dedication to his wife by performing his song “Never Break.”  The song features moving lyrics about getting through tough times. Some of the lyrics read:

“We'll never lose our way
'Cause we both know who we are
Who knows about tomorrow?
We don't know what's in the stars
I just know I'll always follow
The light in your heart”

Our deepest condolences go out to Chrissy Teigen and John Legend's family during the trying times. Be sure to send your thoughts and prayers their way!
