When actress Chrissy Metz first rose to fame as Kate Pearson on the hit TV series “This Is Us,” she quickly became a beacon of body positivity and authenticity. Her on-screen talent and off-screen openness instantly made her a fan favorite. Unlike many stars in Hollywood, Metz did not conform to traditional body standards, and fans found her relatable both on-screen and off-screen.

In “This Is Us,” her character’s storyline often mirrored her real-life struggles with weight, self-image, and emotional healing. The actress has previously expressed how it took her decades to feel comfortable in a swimsuit.

“I grew up wearing a T-shirt at the pool,” she said. “As an adult, I was like, ‘I’m gonna find a bathing suit I like and I’m gonna wear it.’”

When she did, she posted the milestone on social media. However, the response to this was disappointing, but it still did not deter her from aiming for her body confidence, as the actress recalled:

“There were people like, ‘Oh my God, look at you! You know I could never do that,’” she revealed, “It’s a backhanded compliment, but I’m doing what I want to do.”

Over the years, Metz, 45, has undergone a remarkable transformation, both physically, mentally and emotionally, shedding weight while gaining strength, confidence, and a powerful new perspective on wellness. After years of dealing with personal and financial struggles, Metz made a comeback and flaunted her new body.

In April 2025, Metz shared the shocking news that she had lost 100 lbs, revealing she had done this by committing herself to weightlifting.

“I have always enjoyed strength training. I’ve always enjoyed lifting weights – like, I don’t want to run unless I’m being chased,” she said.

According to the actress, the goal behind her weight-loss journey was long-term, and she hoped to age with strength in the best way possible.

“I want to age the best way that I can, and I want to be strong. And that’s really the impetus behind any of it,” she shared.

Metz debuted her slimmer figure at Variety’s Power of Women event in Nashville on May 1, 2025. She wore a pastel pink, blue, and yellow dress with ruffle details, paired with white cowboy boots and layered pearl and silver necklaces.

The actress also encouraged the destigmatization of Ozempic, the weight-loss drug used by many celebrities.

“It’s something I feel like, it is so personal and I think it’s important to destigmatize anything,” she said. “But I also think it’s people's personal decision to decide what it is that they want to do for their body. I think ultimately, at the end of the day, we all just want to feel good and feel good about ourselves.”

However, losing weight wasn’t the only significant change in Metz’s life. The actress also revealed that she had relocated to Nashville from Los Angeles – a move she was happy about in more ways than one.

“There’s a lot going on,” she explained. “There’s obviously great music, great food. I grew up in the South, so I’m used to sort of that hospitality – it feels more communal here. In L.A., it was always like, ‘Oh, you have an audition? What’s it for? Oh, you have an audition? What for?’ It was all very dog-eat-dog.”

We can’t help but share her joy in her new life and home, and wish her nothing but the best.
