Chris Hemsworth's 14-Year-Old Daughter India Rose Won an All-Boys Bull-Riding Competition & His Reaction Was the Most Dad Thing Imaginable

Before India Rose Hemsworth entered the ring, her father walked over to give her a hug and ask a question. "You have to stay on for eight seconds," Chris Hemsworth told her confidently, making it sound like he had this whole bull-riding business figured out. India corrected him. It was eight seconds. "Eight seconds, what do I know?" he joked. She cringe-smiled the smile of a 14-year-old whose father is trying to be cool. And then she got on the bull.
India Rose is the only daughter of Hemsworth and his wife, actress Elsa Pataky. She is 14. She was the only girl in a bull-riding competition. She stayed on for approximately nine seconds before being thrown off. It was enough to win. She was the only female competitor in the event.
Hemsworth posted two videos. The first shows India on the back of a bucking bull, holding on through a ride that the crowd watched from behind the fence. The second shows the pre-competition exchange — the hug, the dad joke about the seconds, the cringe. He captioned both: "Just wanna say my daughter is a savage. Only girl in the comp and took home the win. Proud moment."
He also called her "champion bull rider" in the video — before she had even entered the ring — in the tone of a man who was not remotely surprised by what was about to happen. "The God of Thunder raised a total warrior," one commenter wrote. Another noted: "Imagine being Chris Hemsworth and still not being cool enough for your teenage daughter. Relatable."
Both observations, it should be said, are entirely accurate.
India Rose is, by every available evidence, one of the more adventurous teenagers in any celebrity household. She is a ribbon-winning equestrian — a passion she shares with her mother Elsa Pataky, who is herself a competitive horse rider. She rides dirt bikes and competes in bull-riding events. She is, Hemsworth confirmed in a caption, a savage. She also has the good grace to be visibly embarrassed by her father in public, which suggests the adventurousness has not disrupted her fundamental humanity.
Hemsworth has always presented his children's outdoor lives as central to the family's identity. He and Pataky have raised their three children — India and twin boys Sasha and Tristan — in Byron Bay, in the Australian hinterland, in a home oriented around the outdoors. They have been photographed fishing, surfing, and hiking. The Hemsworth children do not appear to spend their afternoons on a sofa.
India Rose also has a film career — she played Thor's adopted daughter Love in "Thor: Love and Thunder" and will reprise the role in the upcoming "Avengers: Doomsday," appearing alongside her father on screen for the second time. The role was not a publicity stunt. By the accounts of those involved, she earned it.
Before the competition, Hemsworth told her she had to stay on for eight seconds. She told him it was eight. He said "what do I know?" and laughed. She cringed. She walked into the ring anyway and won. He posted the whole thing. She is 14. She is a champion bull rider. She has appeared in a Marvel film. She cringe-smiled at her father's jokes. She also, it must be said, deserved every word of his caption.
