The famed home improvement couple Chip and Joanna Gaines from HGTV’s “Fixer Upper” just presented a $1.5 million donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

The couple was able to raise the impressive amount of money with the help a social media campaign called the #ChipInChallenge. Chip had posted the appeal on his Instagram just one month ago and reminded followers about how the Gaineses raised $230,000 for the hospital in 2017’s challenge.

He was ready to beat the goal by June 11, and thanks to his fans, the goal was far surpassed.

At the end of the campaign, Chip proudly posted that donations of $1.49 million had come in for St. Jude’s. While another $512,000 went to the Brave Like Gabe foundation for his dear friend Gabriele Anderson Grunewald, a runner who was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and unfortunately passed away soon after the announcement.

The native Texans traveled to Memphis to present the check to the hospital and hung out with the children in the cancer ward. They read from Joanna’s children’s book “We Are the Gardeners,” and also presented one more thing to the hospital, something that the home fixer uppers knew would be perfect for the families: A playhouse.

“There’s something so special about spending time together outside and while we’re hopeful that these families will not have to stay here for very long,” they told People, “We wanted to create a retreat for them to explore while they are here.”

The playhouse and the large donation to St. Jude’s will impact the lives of the families affected by cancer immensely. People reports the funds will go towards ensuring that they won’t have to worry about paying for treatment for their child’s illnesses. Additionally, the auxiliary costs will be covered like housing and transport, a huge weight of a parent’s mind during a trying time.
