Sometimes the world can seem like a very cruel and heartless place, especially in a time of such intense political and global turmoil. This is why we all need those special moments that help us to remember that deep down, most of earth's creatures are good and just want to give and receive love.

Perhaps that's why this video of a chimpanzee playing with a baby chimp has gone viral so quickly. The video captures a beautiful moment as the chimp reclines on her back, balancing the baby on her feet as they play "airplane," something that many humans have undoubtedly done with their little ones as well. The chimp seems to have a smile on her face as she bounces the delighted little baby chimp around.

Towards the end of the video, the chimpanzee gently lowers the baby to her chest, embracing her in her arms as the baby snuggles closely to her. As this awe-inspiring, beautiful moment unfolds on camera, you can hear the human recording the special moment whisper "wow."

While no one can determine for sure, most have speculated that the chimpanzee and the baby are mother and child. This video serves as a beautiful reminder that a mother's love for her child is universal and transcends cultures, nationalities and even species, as we see from this magical viral video.

“In what terms should we think of these beings, nonhuman yet possessing so very many human-like characteristics?" famed primate researcher Jane Goodall once mused. "[Surely] we should treat them with the same consideration and kindness as we show to other humans. [As] we recognize human rights, so too should we recognize the rights of the great apes?"

The answer, of course, is a resounding "yes." While we might be more evolved than our furry counterparts, chimpanzees and other primates can offer great insight into the human condition and what it is that connects us all.

This video was taken and promoted by The Taï Chimpanzee Project (TCP), a wonderful non-profit group that studies and cares for these fascinating creatures.
