It takes a gifted person to be able to carry a tune with ease and grace.

Maelyn Jarmon is clearly one of those extremely gifted people. The native Texan took to the stage of season 16 of "The Voice" to prove that she belonged there. The 25-year-old had been training for this moment for a lifetime.

Maelyn joined a local children's theater when she was only five years old, becoming comfortable on stage and in front of an audience. The aspiring performer moved to New York City when was just 17 years old, signing with an agent and appearing at Carnegie Hall.

But it was her performance on "The Voice" that really got people to take notice of Maelyn's extraordinary talents.

During the blind audition segment of the process, Maelyn chose the haunting song from Sting called "Fields of Gold."

Immediately after the song began, two judges flipped their chairs around to see Maelyn, signaling their support of her voice. Adam Levine and Blake Shelton turned their chairs first, followed by Kelly Clarkson.

Although John Legend was the last judge to flip his chair around, he ended up being the one who Maelyn chose to be her celebrity coach.

What is most impressive about Maelyn's beautiful voice is that she is deaf in her right ear and only has 80 percent hearing in her left ear as a result of recurring ear infections as a child.
