Cher's Left 'Speechless' After Finding Out About Her Hidden Granddaughter

Apr 21, 2026 by apost team

Cher has spent decades in the public eye, but one of the most personal family developments connected to her name has emerged through a far more private and complicated story.

Multiple mainstream outlets have reported that her son, Elijah Blue Allman, fathered a daughter in 2010 with Kayti Edwards, the step-granddaughter of Julie Andrews. The child, named Ever, is now a teenager.

The reporting relied on Edwards’ interview with The Sun. However, the most intimate details remain largely based on Edwards’ account rather than on public confirmation from Cher or Elijah Blue Allman.

That distinction matters. A more responsible reading of the story is not that a “secret granddaughter” suddenly appeared out of nowhere, but that a private family connection became public through secondary reporting.

According to PEOPLE magazine, Cher eventually reached out to Edwards after hearing family rumors, and that contact led to confirmation of the relationship and the beginning of a bond with Ever.

The same reporting says Cher later welcomed Edwards and her daughter to her Malibu home and began marking birthdays and holidays with gifts. The story also carries emotional weight because Cher had already spoken publicly about wanting grandchildren.

In a 2018 interview with The Mirror, she said, “I think grandparents are more fun than parents.” That older quote has given the new reporting a poignant frame, even though it does not independently verify the newer family claims.

The family revelation has drawn even more attention because it sits alongside Elijah Blue Allman’s long-documented personal struggles. In December 2023, Cher filed for a temporary conservatorship over her son’s estate, arguing in court filings that he was unable to manage his finances safely because of mental health and substance-use issues. ABC News and the Associated Press both reported on the petition and the court fight that followed. In January 2024, an AP report said a judge denied Cher’s request for an immediate temporary conservatorship while leaving the broader matter unresolved.

That legal background does not prove the personal details reported about Ever, but it does explain why the story has been covered as more than simple celebrity trivia. PEOPLE magazine has also reported that Cher filed again in April 2026, citing new concerns about her son’s condition and legal troubles. AP separately reported in March 2026 that Elijah Blue Allman faced criminal charges in New Hampshire after two arrests. The strongest version of this article, therefore, is also the most careful one.

It is fair to say that reputable entertainment outlets have reported that Cher is getting to know a granddaughter named Ever, and that those reports stem from Kayti Edwards’ account of a relationship with Elijah Blue Allman in 2010. It is also fair to note that Cher’s family has already been navigating serious legal and health-related concerns involving her son. What remains less certain are the emotional details, private conversations and family dynamics that Cher herself has not confirmed on the record.

Framed that way, the story becomes less sensational and more human: a complicated family situation, a delayed connection across generations and a reminder that even famous families carry private pain behind the headlines.
