Cher has been an icon for the majority of her life thanks to her amazing talents as an actress and singer. As a member of the musical duo Sonny & Cher, Cher skyrocketed to pop stardom in the late 1960s and went on to achieve great success in the years following.

Cher’s powerful and unique voice helped her stand out against other singers. The performer has since become the Goddess of Pop for being a pinnacle figure in the male-dominated entertainment industry. With a career spanning nearly six decades, it’s no surprise that this talented woman has received a plethora of awards and praise for her incredible work.

In the same vein, Jennifer Aniston is a huge star in the acting world, having first found success on the TV show "Friends," before she solidified her career in many films. After rising to fame as Rachel Green on the hit sitcom, Aniston starred in notable movies, including "Marley & Me," "Just Go With It and" "Horrible Bosses." Most recently, she returned to the TV series format with "The Morning Show," for which she won a Screen Actors Guild Award

One of the interesting aspects of Hollywood is learning that two celebrities who seemingly don't have anything in common are friends. It's even weirder to learn they've known each other for decades. Such is the case with Cher and Jennifer Aniston!

When Cher appeared on "The Kelly Clarkson Show" in December 2022, she opened up about how Aniston used to come over to her house in the 1970s and eat her "out of house and home!" Read on to learn more about how these two iconic entertainers are friends.

Cher, 76, looked absolutely stunning when she appeared on "The Kelly Clarkson Show." Dressed in an elegant black jacket complete with rhinestone sleeves, the singer sparkled further with shimmering pink eyeshadow.

Kelly Clarkson brought up the topic and asked Cher, "Is it true that Jennifer Aniston would come over to play at your house as a little girl in the '70s?" as she revealed her own fascination with two people being friends in some capacity without their relationship being public. Cher replied:

"As a teenager, I mean as like a middle teenager. And (she would) eat me out of house and home."

The pop icon continued:

"The girls always used to, they knew when I went to Balducci's (grocery store), and they would just show up and just chow down. And (Aniston) was a big chow down-er."

The show's audience laughed at the revelation, as did Clarkson, who said: "I love it! I just think that’s so funny."

Having known Aniston since she was young, Cher was asked if she knew that the "Friends" star was so talented. Cher said that Aniston did go to the High School of Performing Arts, after all. But she added that it's much better to allow someone's talent to speak for itself. She then offered a funny anecdote about her own life, illustrating her point.

"My mom used to say to anybody she met, 'I have a daughter who sings.' Well the minute you say that, people just turn (their attention) off," she said.

Cher's mom, Georgia Holt — who sadly passed away on Dec. 10, 2022, at the age of 96 — once mentioned to the owner of Atlantic Records her daughter could sing. Unsurprisingly, the man brushed her off.

Sometime later, after Cher signed with the record label, Holt had the last laugh. The singer explained:

"Then he signed us and then we're singing, and one night my mom comes in and he said, 'Georgia, what are you doing here?' And she said, 'I told you I have a daughter that sings. There she is!'"

Cher and her late mom were incredibly close. After Holt's passing, the singer shared the news on Twitter, where she simply wrote, "Mom is gone," alongside a deeply sad emoji. The exact cause of death has not been released but Holt had been admitted to the hospital with pneumonia earlier, however, she'd been recovering.

Fans and fellow celebrities sent their condolences to Cher via social media. Actress Mary McDonnell wrote:

"So incredibly sorry for your loss @cher. Be gentle with yourself. Your Mom was a great lady."

Meanwhile, Maureen McCormick, who portrayed Marcia Brady in "The Brady Bunch" series, said:

"Sending you all my love and heartfelt condolences. The love you and your mom shared was so beautiful and touching. Rest in Peace Beautiful Georgia"

Other stars who left their condolences included Ellen Barkin, Marg Helgenberger, Flavor Flav and even Hillary Clinton, who wrote:

"So sorry for your loss, my friend. Sending you all the 💚 in the world."

Holt was a singer-songwriter and actress who started singing as a child. Undoubtedly she passed on her musicality to Cher, who went on to even greater success. Holt and Cher collaborated on a number of occasions, while Cher executive produced a 2013 Lifetime documentary in her mom's honor titled "Dear Mom, Love Cher."
