Before you begin, make sure you leave the skin on the onion and find a decent paring knife that's nice and sharp. Dull knives lead to more nasty accidents in the kitchen than razor sharp ones. Next, you must find the onion's rooted end and carefully cut around it in a full circle.

All you have to do now is simply pull out its entire bulb. The bulb emits gnarly gases and is the main culprit for causing watery eyes and irritation.

If your bulb is still stuck to the onion, then gently cut away its attachment. You can now enjoy the rest of your life mincing onions without shedding a tear.
