Charlie Sheen is one of the most renowned Hollywood actors in the film industry, as he had countless movies wherein he got the lead role. Despite his age, the star remains active and still appears in several projects.

Throughout his career, Charlie had been linked to several women, and he had kids with some of them. According to Us Weekly, the “Hot Shots!” star first had a child in 1984 as his childhood friend, Paula Speert, gave birth to their daughter Cassandra, who is now happily married and has kids of her own.

Decades later, he got married to the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Denise Richards, which was shortly followed by two more girls, Sami Sheen and Lola Sheen.

In addition to three lovely girls, Charlie later had twins, Bob Sheen and Max Sheen, in 2009 with his ex-wife Brooke Mueller. It was a tough time for the former couple as the two boys were born seven weeks earlier than expected, leading one of the kids to have a heart problem.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight in 2009, as reported by Reuters, Mueller told the outlet that it was shocking to see two humans come out of her.

On the other hand, Charlie revealed that Max has a condition called “ejection fracture.”

Fortunately, despite feeling “scared” at first, both kids were able to make a full recovery and are now healthier than they were.

Since the twins are all grown-up, Charlie is doing his best to spend more time with them as much as possible and fighting for his right as a father.

Actors Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen are both well-known in their own right, so when they got together in the early 2000s, they instantly became one of Hollywood's most-talked-about couples.

Richards was best known for playing a Bond girl in "The World Is Not Enough.” Initially, she worked as a model, traveling to New York, Paris and Tokyo, but soon enough, she branched out into acting. Her first roles were guest spots on television shows, including "Saved By the Bell," "Married... with Children" and "Beverly Hills, 90210."

She continued playing small parts in television and movies before she landed her first starring role in 1997's "Starship Troopers." The following years in the late '90s put Richards firmly on the map, as she appeared in "Wild Things” and “Drop Dead Gorgeous.” She continued working in Hollywood and began to switch between movies and TV work, appearing in "Friends," "Spin City," "Scary Movie 3," "Love Actually," "Two and a Half Men" and "30 Rock."

Then in 2008, Richards landed her own E! reality series titled "Denise Richards: It's Complicated." The show followed her life, as well as her young daughters, in Los Angeles. This switch to reality television set the tone for her appearance on Bravo's "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," on which she appeared for a few seasons.

In contrast to Richards' upbringing, Charlie was born into a family of Hollywood stars. The actor's real name is Carlos Estévez, and if his last name rings a bell, that's because his father is Ramón Gerardo Antonio Estévez, who is better known as Martin Sheen. The legendary actor is his father, and Emilio Estévez is Charlie's brother.

So why do they all go by different names? Ramón — whose famous name is Martin — has admitted that he sometimes regrets his decision to go by a different name, but getting work in Hollywood with Latino surnames was a gamble at the time. Charlie's grandparents immigrated from the Galician region of Spain to New York, and there is some Irish blood in his family as well.

Having a famous actor as a father meant that Charlie got his start early — his first film role was in his dad's movie "The Execution of Private Slovik" in 1974 when he was just 9 years old. He went to Santa Monica High School, and like a Hollywood fever dream, his friends included Robert Downey Jr.Rob LoweSean Penn and his brother Emilio, who would all make amateur Super 8 films together.

Charlie seriously began his career at the age of 18, appearing in movies such as "Red Dawn," "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" and "Platoon" in the early years of his career. He also appeared in his father's movie "Wall Street" and continued to make a name for himself. By 1994, Charlie was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Despite his early successes, it was later in his career that Charlie really became a household name. In 2000 he replaced beloved actor Michael J. Fox in the last two seasons of "Spin City," earning himself his only Golden Globe Award. It wasn’t long before Charlie landed the role, which earned him plenty of fans and praise.

Soon after, Charlie was cast in "Two and a Half Men," in which his character Charlie Harper was loosely based on his own bad-boy image. The show was an immense success and earned Charlie Emmy and Golden Globe nominations. By his eighth and final season of "Two and a Half Men," Charlie was earning $1.8 million per episode.

It was during this period of his career that the actor met Richards, and the two became one of Hollywood's hottest couples. After appearing in the 2000 movie "Good Advice" together, Richards went on to guest star on Charlie's show "Spin City" in 2001, which is when they began dating. The couple became engaged just a few months later, in December 2001, before marrying the following June at "Spin City" creator Gary David Goldberg's estate.

In just a few years, the couple would have two beautiful daughters — Sami Sheen, who was born in March 2004, and Lola Sheen, who was born in 2005. But despite seeming like the picture of happiness from the outside, their relationship began to crack, and it seems it was mostly due to Charlie's hard-partying ways, something he was known for since his youth. In an episode of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," as reported by Today, Richards opened up about the breakdown of her marriage and said that it changed "rapidly" around the time she got pregnant with Lola.

In the episode, Richards discussed when she got pregnant with Lola:

"It was a very dark time and very toxic, and I filed for divorce when I was six months pregnant with her."

Richards filed for divorce in March 2005, and it was finalized by November 2006. In the following years, Charlie's private problems became public, leading to a huge fall from grace. After struggling with substance abuse throughout his career, Charlie had failed attempts in rehab and ultimately was fired from his show "Two and a Half Men" in a highly publicized battle with the studio. The fallout from the incident led to the actor giving bizarre interviews as he continued to spiral downward.

When he spoke with Yahoo! Entertainment, Charlie said how people thought it was "so cool" and "fun to watch" him "stick it to the man," but Charlie later recalled:

"My thought behind that is, 'Oh, yeah, great. I'm so glad that I traded early retirement for a f***ing hashtag.'"

He spoke of taking "absolute ownership" of his "desperately juvenile" behavior from that time and has discussed how things could have been different had someone reached out and asked how they could help when he was clearly suffering from poor mental health.

Undoubtedly, one of the reasons Charlie has cleaned up his act is to be there for his children. After breaking off an engagement with then-fiancé Brett Rossi in 2014, he told the Hollywood Reporter:

“I’ve decided that my children deserve my focus more than a relationship does right now."

Charlie has five children with three different women in total. And while he has had a few public issues with some of his exes, there have also been a handful of silver linings along the way.

In a 2019 episode of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," Richards revealed, as reported by Today, "No matter what’s gone down with Charlie and I, I invite Charlie to everything having to do with the kids and I."

She also said in the past that she did what she could to hide Charlie's behavior from their daughters when he was struggling with addiction. She stated:

"How do you tell kids what's really going on? I would say, 'Dad had to go to work, but he loves you so much. He wants to be here for you girls.'"

She elaborated on this further in an interview with People, where she told the magazine:

"Whatever is going on with a couple, the children should not be privy to it. Obviously, there are times when emotions might flare up. But we’re human beings, and we make mistakes. I know that when someone is struggling with addiction, sometimes choices are made that are not in the best judgment, and I have empathy for that. I want Charlie to be the best person and father he can be."

That's an incredibly empathetic approach and certainly not one that many others in Hollywood take to heart.

Having finally beat his demons, Charlie appears to be a changed man, with his children his top priority. In his interview with Yahoo! Entertainment, he spoke of the next phase of his life:

“I just, I have absolute faith that the things I’m going to do professionally in Act 3 are going to put a muzzle on all that stuff and people can celebrate me again for what I actually do for a living.”

Not everything was a fairytale for Charlie and Mueller as they had intense divorce proceedings, which were finalized in April 2011. Their separation stemmed from a shocking incident that happened on the morning of Dec. 25, 2009, wherein the actor was arrested on domestic violence-related charges.

As reported by E! News, Mueller told the authorities that her then-husband held a knife to her throat and threatened her, saying, “You better be in fear.”

According to ABC News, the divorce settlement, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, indicated that the actor was required to pay child support of $55,000 every month for his two boys.

However, he requested to modify the child support agreement in 2018, stating that his income had “changed significantly,” and he was also required to pay for his daughters with Richards $20,000 a month.

The reason why his salary changed was because he had a hard time looking for jobs within the film industry.

“I have been unable to find steady work and have been blacklisted from many aspects of the entertainment industry,” he said and added that he paid both Richards and Mueller 9.5% of his annual salary.

According to Us Weekly, the former couple was able to settle their child support case on April 11, 2022. The pair reportedly reached an undisclosed financial agreement.

As explained by the actor’s attorney, Gregory J. Pedrick, Esq., “Mr. Sheen and Ms. Mueller recognize together the great benefit to their children in peacefully, privately coming to terms focused on the family’s overall best interests.”

After all the drama surrounding child support, it appears that Charlie and his two sons maintained a good relationship as they still spend time with one another.

As seen in photos obtained by Page Six, the trio was photographed out and about on March 28, 2023, on a rare outing to spend quality time.

The “Wall Street” actor took his two boys out on an afternoon stroll in Malibu. They were seen grabbing smoothies and snacks to munch on under the heat of the sun.

Charlie kept it casual with his outfit for the day as he only wore a black hoodie, a pair of blue sweatpants, and walking sneakers. He accessorized his look by wearing tinted sunglasses and a baseball cap.

One of his children, who sported a long hairstyle, also wore something appropriate for the stroll with a Bob Marley graphic shirt, a jacket wrapped around his waist, sweatpants, and a pair of orange sneakers.

On the other hand, there were no images of the other twin as his view was blocked by Charlie.

On other occasions, Charlie had been sharing photos of his sons on his social media accounts, and several fans pointed out that he looked like them.

“They really have that Sheen face... so cute,” one user commented.

The actor expressed his love for his children in a 2019 interview with The Blast after Mueller entered rehab, saying, “we continue to seamlessly love, shelter and protect Bob and Max from the haphazard choices and unsightly behavior their mom refuses to extinguish once and for all.”
