The much-adored couple, Chandler Powell and Bindi Irwin, announced that they are expecting their first child earlier this month, and the world has been waiting eagerly for their updates. This week, Powell posted a sweet caption on his social media account, showing everyone just how happy he is to be with his wife, and how excited they both are for their family to grow.

Powell, 23, revealed the pair had been staying in Queensland for a research mission on crocodiles on Instagram this week. The selfie showed the two of them in the outdoors. It seems clear that this way of life is perfect for him and his wife, and that he probably wouldn't change a thing.

His caption read:

"I married my best friend, we recently found out our family is growing, and we’ve spent the past few weeks helping research crocodiles on the Steve Irwin Wildlife Reserve in Far North Queensland. Every day is incredible with my beautiful wife."

The childhood sweethearts first met at the zoo in 2013 but did not exchange numbers. According to the Daily Mail, Powell later spoke to Bindi's mom, Terri Irwin, and asked if he could keep in touch with Bindi. The pair became an item in 2015 and maintained a long-distance relationship until Powell moved from Florida, where he is from, to Queensland, Australia, where Bindi lives.

Bindi recently posted a grandparents appreciation post, declaring how lucky she and Powell are to have such amazing people to love their little one. The photo shows Chandler's parents and her mom standing with them as Bindi holds a turtle in true Irwin style.

"Grandparent appreciation post. ❤️  My beautiful mum and Chandler’s parents. Our little one is going to be so loved," the post read.

Bindi's father, Steve Irwin, tragically died in September 2006, when he was just 44-years-old after he was pierced in the chest by a stingray barb whilst filming a documentary on location in Batt Reef, Queensland, according to The New York Times. His widow, Terri, 56, and their two children continue his conservation and wildlife work. Their son Robert is 16 years old and also works at the zoo. We are sure he would be very proud of all their efforts.

Australia Zoo has had some troubling times lately as it was closed to the public in March due to COVID-19, and thus it consequently lost a lot of money and resources. But luckily, the zoo was able to re-open. Back in June, 22-year-old Bindi shared how she felt during the zoo's emotional reopening. In her Instagram post she wrote:

"This morning we stood at the front of our home and opened the gates to visitors. I made a radio call to our entire Australia Zoo Crew that we had officially reopened which was one of the best moments of my life."
