On Friday morning, January 17, Celine Dion shared some tragic news with her fans on Instagram. She had lost someone very dear to her heart.

That day, Therese Dion, Celine 92-year-old mother passed away. A tragic loss for the Canadian singer to whom her mother was so much more than a parent.

According to the Inquirer, Celine Dion’s mother was actually the one who saw her daughter’s potential and helped her start her career by sending a cassette recording of her voice to music producer Rene Angelil in 1981. With that Therese Dion also introduced her daughter to her future husband as Rene and Celine ended up marrying years later.

Not long after Celine Dion revealed that she had just lost her mother, she reassured fans that all of her upcoming concerts would still be taking place. Instead of canceling her show that Friday evening, the singer decided to dedicate the concert to her beloved mother.
